Want to Buy New Sedan with Tan/Beige or Light Grey Interior

I just bought a new car and test drove about 8 cars. Many has tan interior. All had tan as an option. Many had tan carpet which I noted. One brand had tan leather but dark carpet which I liked. Can’t remember which car had what. I wanted a dark interior and ended up with black leatherette and black carpet.
My problem was finding an exterior that wasn’t black or white.
My advice is drive the cars he is interested in and then have them find him one with a light interior.

We have spent a LOT of time with mechanics with the Volvos–moreso than other models (except of course the Mercedes that needed even more servicing $$$$$). I like our Volvo mechanic but honestly would be happy if I didn’t see him quite so often and wasn’t always writing 4 figure checks to him.

H as backed off his assertion that all the cars only come with dark interiors, since I’ve done a tad of digging and showed him some brands he didn’t come up with who advertise that they do indeed have tan and light grey interiors. I’m not sure why he couldn’t find what he was looking for–he’s busy cleaning the carport, which is a pre-requisite as a place to house his new baby. ;)

Hyundai Sonata’s are nice and have beige interiors. Along with a 10 year/100,000 mile power train warranty if bought brand new.

As a family, we have a Ford Edge , Lexus is250 and 2 Toyota corollas and they all have light interiors. When we were shopping for the Edge we found most GM models had very dark interiors.

We appreciate all the comments and observations. This quest may take awhile.

Enjoy it! :)

Just got a Hyundai sonata with a light gray interior, although with dark floor carpeting. I don’t like dark interiors either.

We have 2 lexuses. Mine has grey interior and DH’s has the light off-white (I forget the name they created for it-- ecru I think). Both are ok in the hot HOT summer sun. I would never get a black interior or exterior in our heat.

H doesn’t want dark carpeting. Many / most of the cars he was seeing online don’t have light carpets as a option.

It looks like the 2015 ES has a lighter interior color combo available than the IS but is also longer.

Try a Sonata. (We have 2 older ones–white with beige interiors.) Extremely reliable cars in our experience.

HImom - If you can’t find exactly what you want, consider switching out the mats to a different color. We did brown mats for beige interior, but you could do the opposite.

5,000 miles/year driving isn’t a lot of usage. Maybe just get a late model used car and avoid having to drop over $20,000 for a brand new car.

We have a new Accord, light tan interior. Most of the cars we looked at came with the option of light tan or light gray. A dark interior would be a deal breaker for me too.

Got my Lexus as a certified pre-owned when it was 2 years old w 26k miles. Paid 30% less than a new one. For high quality cars, getting a used one is a great way to buy a better car than you could afford new.

Can’t believe I’m saying this but I drove a Chevy Malibu in FL for a while and really liked it. Nice interior, drove well, genuinely a good car. Its 191.5 inches long.

Yea, it will be H’s car, so he will have to end up figuring out his priorities and driving some cars. Since we so rarely buy new cars, I will leave it up to him whether it’s NEW or slightly used or even a demo model.

He’s the one with STRONG feelings about the entire interior to be light colored–seats, carpet, floor mats. He also wants it between 185-195 or so in total length.

Looks like Toyota Avalon rounds to about 195.

My H and I are driving blue BMWs with cream leather interior. My carpet is beige. Mine is an X3, his is a 320ix. Love them! Buy CPO if you can!

(The matching colors – it’s sort of funny since we both bought them as demos/CPOs at different times from different dealers. How often do you get just what you want right down to the color when buying used?)
