Oh ya, Gene Wilder! Beautiful eyes!
I feel like when you are discussing the value of warm lemon water and then start talking about something like Yerba Mate - that is a totally different animal. Not in the “warm lemon water” category. Which is what this thread started as.
Water - just good old fluorinated water is generally going to be a positive addition to your body. Water is simple and more pure and can help flush out toxins, etc. Adding a little lemon? Maybe makes it more tolerable, if diluted, it’s not like rubbing a lemon on your teeth. Maybe some other health benefits but can’t imagine unless you are drinking lemon juice in large quantities that there would be a real negative.
We often add a squirt of lemon juice to our cold water. The lemon adds a nice flavor. Lemon helps, not hurts for kidney stone formers. Temperature- cold or warm- is whatever is most palatable at the time. Adding lemon juice makes it easier to drink more water. Plenty of fluids helps with not getting kidney stones. I changed from 8 ounce to 16 ounce glasses of water- a lot easier to drink 5 and not count 10 servings.
The chemist and physician parts of me say drink the flavors you like, but not for supposed health benefits from the added substance. Whatever it takes to get the volume to have dilute urine so crystals won’t form. More in hot weather- when sweating off fluids.
Make sure you aren’t drinking the warm water straight from the tap. Our local water company sent a notice that you should drink and cook with water from the cold water side because warm or hot water is coming from the hot water tank which can contain lead and other chemicals. So heat up the cold water in your microwave or hot pot.
Am I the only one who just keeps thinking Lindsay Bluth / Hot Ham Water when I see the thread’s title?
I’m sorry but I don’t think warm lemon water can “cleanse” or “detox” the human body.

@jym626, the way to consume ACV is to add 1 Tbsp to a GLASS of water. I add at least 8 oz of water. Drinking from a straw might address the negative effects it would have on your teeth. I don’t casually sip it - I essentially chug it. Then I rinse my mouth out. Again, to save the teeth.
I have no trouble getting it down this way, but I would never drink it straight, or even with “a little bit of water”.
If you do a search on the benefits of ACV, you’ll find that it’s supposed to address just about every ailment we could have. I started it for weight control. I haven’t seen any benefits in that department, but it does get rid of my sugar cravings and addresses depression.
Thanks, @FlyMeToTheMoonz I did try the very diluted ACV. Couldn’t do it
So microwaves some water and squirted in some lemon juice but how much?.. Lol…
It’s actually nice on this cold morning. But… I normally make natural baking hot chocolate, no sugar, and put some cinmomin on that… Sometimes with a little coffee. That is actually a very healthy and good for you drink (look it up). Best of all no calories and it decreases your cravings.
But I will mix it up and try this.
So if anyone can get me excersising that would be great. This winter was the worst for me. I just sorta gave up and ate… :((
Too bad they don’t have an ACV pill. It does seem to have a lot of positive benefits. I like vinegar, not sure if I could drink it each day.
@jym626 , did you try it with a straw? Drinking really fast? The straw really helps cut down on the ability to taste it.
Be cautious with drinking apple cider vinegar unless it is really, really, really diluted - my gastrointerologist (having a series of ablations to help with Barrett’s esophogus) said it’s very bad for esophogeal tissue. I only use it now to soak/rince my fruit in and even then it’s very diluted and well rinsed after soaking so no traces left
Thanks again, @FlyMeToTheMoon. But TBH, if I have to do all that, I’ll probably not drink it. Reminds me of how I have to choke down the stuff when prepping for a colonoscopy :-<
I bought these capsules at Costco once - https://www.costco.com/Nature’s-Truth-Apple-Cider-Vinegar-1200-mg.%2C-180-Capsules.product.100468580.html - and when I opened the bottle, the vinegar smell almost knocked me out! I ended up returning them because I also have esophageal issues and found out that I shouldn’t take them.
But boy, were they strong!
I started with my regime this week. Now I think I’m getting a cold…not sure it’s supposed to work like that.
Hugh Grant must be kicking himself.
Hugh Grant! Haha,… it just kills me he has like, 5 kids now.
I put ACV 2 Tablespoons in very small amount of iced coke through a straw followed immediately with a fair amount of water. Pretty much chug it down shot glass style. That works pretty good. I started with less than a tablespoon and worked my way up to two tablespoons. Just once daily (some do it 2-3 times a day). I tried diluting it more but that was plain awful—just prolonged the agony.
I don’t love the taste although it can grow on you to some extent but I enjoy some benefits. The first was (I felt anyway—no clinical proof) was that my blood sugar stays more stable over the course of the day. Less highs and lows.
The other is helping esophageal reflux- huge difference here for me—rather than too much acid I guess you can produce too little ( especially if you don’t eat properly and skip meals like I do often). It’s been so much better I can’t believe the difference.
