With thanks to @merc81 who posted these links on another thread – I read them and was struck by the fact that W&L was tied in first place for the highest 4 year graduation rate (91%) in the country. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/highest-grad-rate And was tied with two military academies for highest freshman retention rate, in the country (97%) https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-liberal-arts-colleges/freshmen-least-most-likely-return When my son was looking I used a few other data points for us to consider as well. Since W&L flies a bit under the radar I thoughtthis was worth highlighting.

Thank you for taking the time to respond in such detail. We are going to visit in mid February (along with UVA and Wake Forest). Perhaps I can follow-up with you after our visit.

All 100% accurate! What I was trying to convey above - W&L is NOT typical in any way. With the high percentage of athletes (my D is one) and academic rigor, it would be tough to survive if partying was the number one priority.
