WashU Agrees to Join 'Conversation' as Trump Admin Opens Up Compact to All Schools

Looks like WashU wants to engage in discussions about the compact but they have NOT said they’re joining.

LATER EDIT: Apparently the administration has opened up the invitation to all schools:

What have you read about the administrations goals? I assume driving down cost for one and perhaps other metrics desired? Where’s this deal headed - do you know?

This is interesting, I don’t think they were on the original list of 9?

So what’s going on? Is the administration quietly reaching out to more universities, or is there an expanded list somewhere?

Apparently the administration has opened up the invitation to all schools:

Can someone please explain why a post saying they hope kids don’t go to southern schools is not flagged as off topic but my post saying the exact opposite is?

Is CC now in the business of policing content?

My bet is that only one of the posts was initially flagged and if we are moderating from phones or otherwise busy, we don’t have time to read through the whole thread. Both posts are now hidden.

As a reminder, the CC policy regarding discussing politics outside the political forum is that facts can be stated but speculations, in this case where students are going to go to college, is not. There are plenty of threads in the political forum where that can be discussed if people want to continue the conversation there.

Thank you.

And for posting the policy.

That’s correct

Actually, I was on my phone and did read the entire thread.

I hid the post not because it was off-topic, but because it had a political sentence which is not allowed outside the politics forum

Hidden posts are generally available to be edited by the poster if they wish to bring the post into compliance.

What was the political sentence and how did it differ from the original post? I just said exactly the same thing in reverse.

The last sentence of the first paragraph. Now, let’s return to topic, please.

I think there will be consequences for any private school that signs up for this.
