Wasted 11th. Full time school in 12th. Any hope left for BITS/NITs/SRM/VIT etc?

Never went for any coaching in 11th. Covered purely NCERT topics. (Left out all Exercises though) Joined Aakash coaching in 12th for JEE (and other exams) prep. School for 6 hours, coaching 3, left with 4 hours for self study per day (4 hours for NCERT+Competitive exam stuff). School starts on Monday. Is it possible to aim for a good rank in these private collages + above 92 CBSE percentage considering a completely wasted 11th grade and about 4 hours for self study per day? Or am I doomed for life? :expressionless: Also, I will be filling out forms for US Universities so there will be a considerable amount of time that goes into that. (I focused on US requirements till the end of 11th, might re give SAT in December,no serious prep though, as I’ve already done that during the Summer. But my chances of making it to good universities are just moderate, hence I am preparing for these Indian Universities.) Please please give me some advice and tell me about the possibilities. 4 hours a day of self study in 12th + wasted 11th. Doomed or any hope left for good private institutions? Please please do reply.

It will be extremely difficult for u to get into iit
However nit is very much within your reach. In order to get into nit u need to do well in jee mains which is just slightly difficult than NCERT syllabus. Also, nit gives 40% weightage to board marks so if u can do well in ypur boards u have a good chance at nit.
And btw u are in no way doomed.
VIT and Bits are very much possible if u start studying from now.

I am not aiming for IIT at all. Just worried about these because I know people in the North who attend dummy schools and then attend 6 hours of coaching, work their asses off for 18 hours a day for two years and still say “Won’t get into IIT, will TRY for BITS.” And then there’s me, studies for 3 hours a day, 3 hours of coaching and chills out at school. XD I do hope that what you’re saying is right. Does anyone else have any other advice/opinion? Please do reply. Thanks!

I’m in eleventh. You’re absolutely right about the dummy schools, seeing as I’m in one.
My dads friends, four in fact, and several of my IIT alumni professors, all say that they only prepped for the IIT jee for 6 months. You have a chance if you work hard. If you don’t, then… you won’t.
