Watch "Glee"

waaaaay better episode than the previous two weeks

Very impressed with this episode and how far they actually went with religion and didn’t really hold anything back. This is why I like the show so much.

I actually have enjoyed every single Glee episode. Every episode has a message and really ties everything together by the end of the episode.

Don’t understand why some people are so uptight over the content of Glee. No show is going to be 100% reality. This is not a reality show, this is a sitcom. This show is not targeted towards children. I think all of the jokes and insinuations are 100% appropriate for the target audience.

Rachel’s rendition of “Papa Can You Hear Me” gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes.

And I never thought I would be in tears over the Beatle’s song “I wanna Hold Your Hand”. Man-oh-man!!! That got to me!!

I also love that version of “I Wanna hold your hand”. They took it from the movie that was out about 2 years ago (though I am drawing a blank on the title). Curt sang it, note for note, like Prudence did in the film. I liked Rachel’s solo but that also was not original, she followed Barbra’s version very closely (and I have seen Yentl many many times).

Glad to hear it- I will watch for it on Hulu.

Don’t understand why some people are so uptight over the content of Glee. No show is going to be 100% reality.

It isn’t the lack of reality- if you read the posts it was the Yuck Factor.
I dont care for entertainment that is written for shock value.

This show is not targeted towards children.

Then perhaps it should air two hours later, instead of right after dinnertime.

I think all of the jokes and insinuations are 100% appropriate for the target audience.

Which would be whom?
People who read * Gossip Girl*?

I am not a prude- at all- but I do have a line- that I won’t cross & unfortunately you can’t say the same thing about the media.

With the exception of Finn making it to 2nd base, I didn’t have to cover my 9 yr old’s eyes. Super. Does Rachel have to squeeze her face like she got lemon in her eyes everytime she sings? Reminds me of my kids when they pretend-cry for effect.

I get that too. She does that a lot…perhaps because it plays well on stage (not so much on TV) where she got her start? She also has a vocal thing that bugs me…where she starts many tones with a sort of high-pitched “break” in her voice…it begins to annoy me, she does it so much.

Small details, though. The girl (young woman) is ridiculously talented!!!

I loved that they respected all students spiritual backgrounds…even the right not to believe. I love that they didn’t overplay Curt and his dad right at the end, just a squeeze of the hand. I actually liked the Finn/REM number. I’m a big REM fan and never would have guessed one of their songs would have been on Glee.

I’m tired of seeing Rechel make faces as well. I don’t see it stopping. She’s my least favorite character right now.

Yes, that’s the version they used! I was trying to remember. It was “Across the Universe” with Rachel Wood and Jim Sturgess.

Good episode…a lot was said about religion that isn’t usually said on TV. I liked that Curt didn’t lose his dad, but was sort of glad he wasn’t instantly converted…that would have been a little too neat.

I do wish they had done a bit more traditional gospel.

Across the Universe. That’s the movie where *I Wanna Hold Your Hand *was sung that way.

Rachel channeled Barbra a bit too much.

Question: is footbal not played on Friday nights everywhere in the country? Is that only in Texas?

missy- most places play Friday night hs football but some also mix in Saturday games

Not a surprise for any theatre fans. REM songs are very popular with the musical theatre crowd and are often used in auditions. In fact, a family friend who is a very successful Broadway actor used Losing My Religion for his audition for the show for which is he famous.

I don’t know if it’s only in Texas but it definitely isn’t everywhere in the country.

And Brittany’s one liners just keep coming…

I really liked the show last night. I also cried when Curt sang " I wanna hold your hand." I am also liking the fact that more of the cast is singing and not just Lea Michelle. She is very talented, but so are others on the show. It was a well done episode.

Now we need more Mike Chang. My Ds have thought for years that Asian guys are really hot and have wondered why we don’t see more hot Asian dudes on TV. They want a Mike Chang-centered episode!

missypie, a Broadway actor friend, who could be described as a hot Asian dude :), just finished filming an episode of Glee. It was in a small role but we are all hopeful that it will lead to something more.

Also, I’m looking forward to when we get to hear Cheyenne Jackson sing. I hope we don’t have to wait too long!

alwaysamom - D and I are right there with you waiting to hear Cheyenne Jackson sing!

I too absolutely loved last nights episode.
I commend the writers for doing it right when they can make me laugh out loud (Big Bang Theory every week!) or make me cry like they did last night.
I was most moved by the scene with Sue and her sister. It explains a lot about Sue…so now we know a little bit why a person might end up as “cranky” as Sue is! Reminds us that there is probably good in everyone and to never judge to quickly until we have walked in another mans shoes.

I agree.

I also loved Finn’s easy come easy go faith…God as genie…there is a lot of that in real life, too. But also glad that they also portrayed deep, genuine faith.
