patsmom - I am NO expert on current music. But I believe the “Forget You” version is the one played on radio, so kids have that option to download the explicit and the clean version on itunes. I’m sure there are many that are unaware of the explicit version. Anyone, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

^I’d certainly never heard the explicit version before, and the “clean” version fits way better than something Glee edits (they don’t have the best censoring skills, usually).

Thanks for pointing out that there’s a clean version. I’d never heard of the song or the artist before Glee. I’m pretty much out of the loop, I guess .

As Roseanne Roseannadanna says, “Never mind”. :D

Need to put this one back on top.

Last night’s show I thought was the season’s best so far. Kurt and Finn’s parents wedding was the best…and the tribute to Kurt by Finn, touching.

that ‘down the aisle’ number was so fresh, my daughter said she wants that song for her wedding. I also thought Sue Sylvester’s wedding was interesting…

the only downer I thought was the ‘Ohio’ song sung by Sue and Carol Burnett. I just didn’t get it and didn’t see how it fit in to the rest of the show. Seemed to be a waste of time.

Meanwhile, Quinn and her new BF are really cute together.

I have italicized most of the information necessary to understand why they did it and how it fit in. It’s a semi-forgotten old chestnut that worked well with the two women’s voices, and didn’t force Burnett to do any more than she was capable of at this point. It fit in to the rest of the show because they always have guest stars come and sing random numbers.

seems like it was a good idea gone wrong.

Somehow probably had the idea that Burnett would make a good “Sue’s mom,” but not sure it was executed that well.

In other words, when I replay this, I’ll fast forward thru that number.

It’s a song from Wonderful Town and, given the abbreviated details of Sue’s mother’s story last night, fit in perfectly, in my opinion. Her character was questioning her decision 30 years ago to leave Ohio, and her family, to hunt Nazis. Glee is set in Ohio.

The Bruno Mars music featured was fun, although I think the wedding aisle dance is getting more than a little old these days. Something original would have been more in keeping, especially with the creative talent available on this show.

My question – is the cost of a Hawaiian honeymoon really enough money to send Kurt to a private school for a year???

not sure where this story line with Kurt is going…

patsmom,

How is Glee, the actual show, not all the money-making tie ins (which the actual producers have very little to do with) geared towards kids?

Of course not, unless he gets a scholarship, too. But this is the show that manages to throw together a huge wedding in a week. Suspend disbelief entirely.

Well, I guess it depends on your definition of “kids”. I didn’t mean little children - I meant teens. It’s a show about high school, after all.

I thought Finn’s song was “awkward”. Who was he singing to? First, the mom, then Kurt (when the lyrics had “Girl” in it) and then Rachel?

Surely there was something more appropriate. I loved the song down the aisle though!

I thought this episode was fantastic and quirky and I, for one, thought the Carol Burnett song was pretty awesome. Sue Sylvester’s character is so very off the wall and in this episode they managed to make you cheer for her (when she stood up for Kurt and tried to expel the bully) and also made you squirm as she “married” herself. So strange! So, having a Nazi-hunting Carol Burnett for a mom makes “sense”! :)

And the wedding was fantastic!! Someone above said that wedding aisle dances were getting old…I must be out of the loop. I only know of the one on youtube. This one was way better than that one, IMO. How fantastic it would be if someone had a group of friends who could actually sing and dance down the aisle like this at their wedding! What a joyous thing that would be.

Not to put down Glee’s version, but I thought the youtube dancing down the isle was far more fun – because it was real, unpolished & totally unexpected. And clearly Glee paid homage to it, the way the bride/groom made their walk was totally a nod to the original.

Agree about Sue’s wedding – didn’t get it, didn’t find it funny or enlightening… just… bizarre.

That was my point earlier, that it wasn’t fresh or new at all. Not only was it an homage to the original, it was done already on prime time tv, over a year ago on The Office. Frustrating as last week’s Chicago performance which was an exact replica from the scene in the film, not even the Broadway show!

this last episode reminded me how many great songs there are with Ohio in the lyrics.

I am beginning to think this is the most over-analyzed show on television.

@allthis isnew to me
I had to laugh, you are so right. It seems Finn started by saying it was a tribute to Kurt, then he was directing his song to his mother, then Rachel, then finally Kurt. It was very confusing…but I guess you have to interpret it as meaning he was addressing all 3.

Ahhhh another Glee. Loved Soul Sister by the Warblers. And loved the second number by New Directions (the usual group) but don’t know the name. The couple dancing was great.

The “tie” sending both to regionals was cheesy.
