Spoiler Alert

Quinn got into Yale EA. Really? Actually, I think an essay on keeping a perfect 4.0 while giving birth in 10th grade* would *be compelling. It’s just that I don’t recall a bit of groundwork for that in prior seasons…no late hours studying, no juggling cheerios and Glee and doctors visits and AP classes…or is a 4.0 in regular classes from Lima High enough if you gave birth some time in there?

Agreed, story could have been just as compelling if she got into some LAC nearby so she could study and continue to stalk her daughter (Oberlin? Kenyon?). And I, for one, would’ve much rather Santana sing first and then go all gangsta on that pretty warbler. Someone could’ve held her back but one good slug first seems more believable. Nice singing though last night.

My 16 year old (who is a major MJ fan) and I both said that we have never understood so many of the words to those songs!

I’m with you on the Glee kids’ superior diction, missypie. I felt the same thing about finally hearing some of the lyrics. But, really: “Ben”? They had to sing “Ben”? Every time I hear that song I remember my 7th grade chorus teacher’s reaction when he learned the song was about a rat. He had us singing it as part of a medley of catchy ditties of the era. (Yes, I was in 7th grade in the early '70s. What about it?)

Believable is not an adjective I ever associated with Glee or would ever expect to!

D and I did not like the show at all last night. With all the MJ songs out there the ones that chose just were not that good.

DS and I felt the show may have jumped the shark last night. The proposal storyline is silly, the fact that Will, the school and/or Blaine’s parents would not be all over the assault was ridiculous and Arty being Mr. Tough Guy was not realistic. DS did not buy Quinn getting into Yale, but I found it believable. Who knows if and when she studies? She could be doing it offscreen and she could have good SAT scores off screen. She definitely had a big EC with showchoir, she had a compelling story and she’s from a part of the country that might contribute to geographical diversity. That was the one thing in the show I could believe.

I’m new to this thread, but I’ll chime in. I think I agree with mimk6. Jumped the shark.

I’ll keep watching for the rest of the season, though. It’s one thing my HS senior and I do together. And, since she’ll graduate at the same time as the main characters, I’ll be able to walk away in June with a feeling of closure.

I’ll give Quinn the benefit of the doubt and assume she’s Yale material.

The Finn/Rachel engagement makes me gag. I pity Finn and his clingy self doubt. Rachel always seemed to love herself more than any other person. So, I think the marriage is doomed.

I don’t think the gay issue bothers me very much. Everything in the show is exaggerated. That’s how Glee is.

My favorite character is Kurt’s dad. Oh, and the football coach. :D

I’m looking forward to the graduation episode. I guess it will be the season finale.

best song of the night hands down was Artie out of the wheelchair and Mike (Asian guy) …at first I didnt even know it was him!
Santana’s voice is great…glad she is getting more airtime
Agree that the song choices were…meh…

I wonder if they only had access to certain MJ songs which is what led to the strange song choices in the show.

As long as we’re pretending the show should make sense…it’s terrible that Finn’s one shot to play in college was Ohio State. Was he scouted at all during HS? If that was the first scout, did poor Finn think that is how it worked? Too bad some responsible character that we already know like the GC or the coach didn’t talk about playing for some other schools.

Alas, I am weary of Rachel…how anyone could want to spend a lifetime with that character is beyond me.

Got to say I really liked the mj music last night! And yes…really interesting to understand the lyrics. I even think that I like some of those versions better than mj’s…for diction alone.
Yes, very weird that you would not press charges when assaulted and end up in the hospital…but this is glee we are talking about…fantasy land right?

And as for BEN…I had the album…I can see the cover in my mind right now. Loved it, but that was the 70’s. Any song sung to or about a rat is just wierd. But how many people under 40 know the song history? Just another thing to make us think mj might have been “a little out there”…to say the least!

Wait, the song is about a rat??? I guess I missed that back in the day. And such a pretty song…

DB,
I so gree with you–love K’s dad and the coach.

Seriously, Quinn to Yale?

It was even nominated for an Oscar.

Is Ben a rat in the movie?

Ben is THE rat!

Actually, I’ve not seen the movie. Wikipedia says he’s the leader of a whole bunch of rats. He’s the lead human character’s best friend. Of course he is!

Actually, I thought some of the MJ versions were really mediocre, because I missed the dancing. MJ without the moves? But, the version of Human Nature was superb! I agree, it was the first time I had understood the lyrics. Also, the instrumentation on Smooth Criminals was delightful. So, the show had its ups and downs. The story lines are usually far from reality, but sometimes they nail it right on the head. The talent is dependable, so there is usually enough entertainment for me to watch it often.

That movie is not getting onto my Netflix queue.

Chris Colfer was not a fan of Ben:

“Hope you are all enjoying the Micheal Jackson episode!!! Where else can a guy sing a song about a rat to a gay pirate? #OnlyOnGlee” (From twitter)
