missypie, those comments are Ryan Murphy’s inside joke about Matthew’s hair when he was on Broadway. He has very curly hair and in several shows, he wore it very long.

I thought I never wanted to hear anyone other than Barbra Streisand sing “Don’t Rain on My Parade”, but I was totally verklempt by Lea’s solo! It was like buttah!

I think this episode was made before the go-ahead was given for additional episodes, so on the assumption it might have been the very last, they tried to tie up a lot of loose ends all at once. (I do appreciate that–so many shows are canceled with no plot resolution.) Now I guess the challenge is to unravel enough of those ends to go forward. I’m hoping to meet Rachel’s two dads and I’m looking forward to the guest appearance by Lea Michele’s doppelganger, Idina Menzel.

I FINALLY watched the Glee Fall Finale last night - so could FINALLY read this thread!!

Wow, I loved it. Can’t wait to watch it a second time!

Watched it with my D who had already seen it. Interesting how we “read” some things differently.

For instance, I’m not sure Will running down the hall and the “kiss” actually happened. Since he was sitting in the chair watching the kids sing, and seemed to be also thinking, maybe these scenes are just scenes he was playing out in his head???

Also, my D noticed, but not me, that the final song, My Life Would Suck, used all dance moves from previous songs they had performed on Glee this season - watch it again and you’ll see several “repeat” moves including moves from the famous Glee “Single Lady” episode!

I can’t wait till April!!!

^
I noticed the dance moves too. I thought it was a nice touch.

I assumed the sequence was real…I guess we’ll find out in April.

The DVD set came out last Tuesday, I was going to buy it but D beat me to it. I missed the pilot and the first 2 episodes, so I watched those as well as some of the highlights of the other episodes. That will have to hold me until April.

Who watched it? Comments?

LOVED seeing Idina Menzel.

Me!! I also loved seeing Idina and especially Jonathan Groff!! My D attended a master class he taught and she said he was so nice and supportive and I love his voice. I just wish Cory Monteith could sing…

I watched it, but felt disappointed. Last season it had the drama, but also made you laugh, last night I just felt sad.

I really didn’t mind that…there are lots of times (pretty often in high school) that you just feel like your life is screwed up. And glad that Will did not jump into bed with either woman right away.

My D has a friend at church whose parents will not let her watch Glee because it is immoral…I guess because they aren’t condemning Kurt? They certainly aren’t endorsing teen pregnancy…there have been bad consequences for Quinn, Puck and Finn over that. Rachel had a crush on Shu but he nipped it in the bud. The only thing I can come up with is that it shows an openly gay character in a postive light - but it certainly doesn’t show him as having a problem-free life. What am I missing on the morality front?

Am new to Glee, but for all the hype, too much story, not enough music for me. Loved the Madonna Vogue video at the end. Can’t wait to see the Madonna music episode. Am assuming it is next week.

Jonathan Groff was awesome…didn’t realize until afterwards that he started in Spring Awakening with Lea Michele (Rachel)…they were great together; highlight of last night for me…

Not sure why, but something was off about the whole show though…not as funny as usual…

Loved the “Vogue” video at the end…

The Mom: last night was not representative of the show as a whole in terms of musical numbers fwiw…hang in there; yes, Madonna show is next week…

and thank goodness for TIVO; Glee and Lost on at the same time…

I just googled it and yes it WAS Nathan from *So You Think You Can Dance *in the Sue Vogue video. I thought it was…

Do a YouTube search for Glee, Oprah, John Burroughs High School, and Powerhouse to see what a ‘real’ show choir does with Vogue. This is more typical (although Powerhouse is arguably unbeatable in the country) of what show choir is.

Powerhouse performed Vogue on Oprah last week when the cast of Glee were the guests. It’s pretty awesome.

teriwtt - Thanks for that info. I definitely will look at that. We thought last night’s episode was ok and we are hoping they are just gaining momentum for future episodes!

My D says everytime she watches Glee that she wished she had grown up in the midwest where there are show choirs! We have nothing like that in SoCal.

showmom858 - oh yes you do; you have some of the best show choir in the country. John Burroughs High School is in the LA area. Burbank High School battles back and forth with Burroughs as one of the best. Check out showchoir.com to find out what competitions are still scheduled for this year in SoCal. Lance Bass is actually judging one of the competitions coming up in San Diego this weekend.

But you’re right, it’s more predominant in the Midwest, with some strong representation from the deep south (Alabama and Mississippi).

showmom-Amen! I would have LOVED to have done show choir in HS!

It’s funny, though, because GLEE is fairly representative of my HS life…not the showchoir aspect or the high-drama aspect, but the way that the Glee-clubbers support and help each other. Some of my best friends to this day I met in choir.

I also thought something was missing last night, but I think that’s to be expected when they have to pick back up. They weren’t sure they were going to get picked up for the rest of the season, so they had to make Sectionals huge just in case. Now they have to get back into the swing of things.

INCREDIBLE chemistry between Lea and Jonathan…it was very obvious they had worked together before. And Idina was a treat…I hope they bring her back. I wanna hear her sing! :)

As always, Sue Sylvester was wonderful. “Right now there’s enough product in your hair to season a wok.”

Now that I think about it, where were Quinn, Puck, Mercedes, Kurt and Tina this episode? Seems like the whole episode was Rachel/Finn/Mr. Shu/Emma and a few others. I think that’s probably what was missing…the whole Glee club feeling wasn’t really there.

On the morality front–I know some people (not me or my family) who were upset that Will left his wife and immediately started “seeing” another woman (if you can call it that) before he had a finalized divorce.

I missed them too, but I also think that is what makes for a good ensemble show…having a lot of fleshed out characters that they can focus on. I love House, but really it’s just House’s team, Cuddy and Wilson. I like that on Glee there are lots of different characters.

A good point and true
It’s nice to kind of “know” each character well.

Yes…but it didn’t work out and he’s miserable now and trying to figure things out. I might object if he had immediately started sleeping with the GC and both were thrilled with the arrangement. He wanted this pattern but she didn’t and now they’re both sad although they know it’s right to wait.

I think it’s good tv for young people when moral dillemas are presented and the characters have to work though them and live with the consequences.

^I know…I’m just repeating what I’ve heard. A friend of a friend isn’t allowed to watch it because of the divorce and teen pregnancy…but the parents have never actually watched it, so they don’t know what’s actually going on.
