I’m thinking whether I should apply for co-op or regular program of pure mathematics in U of Waterloo. One priority which I want to have in choosing program is whether my program will take too much my time which will be spent for researching and doing program outside the school, such as some summer program in prestigious institution or university in the U.S. Is co-op program quite time-consuming? Or is it so crucial aspect of the school that not being in co-op program will seriously harm my chance to become a competitive applicant in graduate admission? Since I’m going to try to transfer to other competitive schools or apply to competitive graduate schools in the U.S., I have to focus on research experience.
