Waterproof mascara

What is the best waterproof mascara?

I wear waterproof for a few reasons: I am sentimental and tear up easily; I have watery eyes anyway; I have oily skin and waterproof smudges less than regular; and the MAIN reason–my eyelashes have no curl whatsoever so I have to use a curler. Regular mascara makes the curl droop immediately, like rolling your hair and then spraying water on it.

I have yet to find a mascara that I love.

Have you tried Chanel? I do not wear mascara on a regular basis, but I have a tube for fancy occasions. It is awesome.

Have you tried tubing mascara? I was having lots of trouble with smudging under my eyes while in humid Tampa (even with Chanel, which I love otherwise) and the lady at the Chanel counter suggested I try a tubing mascara. It’s not exactly waterproof, but doesn’t melt with water or tears. It forms little tubes around each lash and the tubes slide off like fibers with just warm water and a cloth. Here’s another explanation of it - but they aren’t listing my favorite,Trish McEvoy, which comes in 2 versions - thickening or curling. I use thickening on the bottom lashes and on the top lashes I start with a coat of thickening and then use the curling one for length.

i second the recommendation for tubing mascara. The brand i use is Blinc - other mascaras didn’t stay on and i ended up with raccoon eyes. https://www.blincinc.com/us_en/

Thanks. I have never heard of tubing mascara. Will definitely give it a try.

Cool! You learn something new everyday!

I heartily recommend Clinique Lash Power mascara. It is a tubing mascara and does not smudge or give you raccoon eyes. At S’s college graduation, we melted in the sun and everything else slid off my face, but my mascara didn’t budge.

Tubing mascara is a miracle. The only mascara I have ever used (waterproof or not) that didn’t give me raccoon eyes!

I heard about tubing mascara right her on CC. Love it.

On those occasions where I really want the extra ‘umps’ I’ll layer waterproof mascara onto of the tubing stuff.

Stays put without smudging all day. But, it will wash off with warm water because the tubing layer releases ant takes the waterproof stuff with it.

Wow! I pretty much gave up wearing mascara years ago because waterproof or not, it comes off on my face and I have the proverbial raccoon eyes within an hour.

I’m definitely going to check out this tubing mascara!

I didn’t have luck with the tubing mascara but I can’t remember why. Maybe it flaked off?

I bought the Clinique Lash Power today and will try it tomorrow.

I did not know that Blinc was tubing mascara, but I received a free tube in a Clinique promotion, I think. Contrary to the fans here, I did not like it at all. That stuff will not come off, so I guess if that is what you are looking for, then it satisfies that requirement. I am used to non-waterproof mascara that just comes off on my fingers in the shower. Blinc needed to be pulled off and then a lot of make-up remover was needed after the shower.

I have worn non-waterproof mascara for decades and have been very happy with Clinique. (Wore Lancome more than 20 years ago and then the formula changed.) I sleep in it, to the dismay of my eye doctor. Small amount of smudging after sleep, but wipes off quickly with any make-up remover.

Since it is not waterproof, it will run in the rain or snow, but it never smudges during the day otherwise.

I like High Impact and Lash Doubling. Just looked at Clinique site and apparently they sell a waterproof mascara, but I have never tried it. If Lash Power does not work for you, try High Impact.

I’ll share how I remove the Clinique Lash Power mascara: I take a cotton ball, and soak it in warm/hot tap water, and then repeatedly press it on my closed eyes and eyelashes. This loosens the mascara and there will be lots of flakes.

Since I also wear eye makeup, I follow this with an Almay eye makeup remover pad. This helps wipe away the extra loosened mascara flakes. But don’t try to remove the mascara with just traditional eye makeup remover. You need to use the warm/hot water first.

Please post an update of your experience!

Tubing mascara is incredibly easy to get off. I always hated any mascara that required cotton balls of oily removers and scrubbing of any kind. To remove tubing mascara simply allow warm water to run over it …it will come right off (and looks weird because you can see the little tubes that slide off your lashes)
You’ll know it is tubing mascara because it is a two step application. First the prep which looks white like elmers glue (ha) then the color…
I have even slept in mine (bad bad) and not a single smudge. Miracle.

I had been using a tubing mascara (Blinc) after reading about it here. I have really long lashes–thank you Latisse–and wanted a mascara that would separate each lash. A friend of my younger D is a vegan and researches products she uses to make sure they don’t use animal products. I noticed how great her eyelashes looked and she told me about a tubing type mascara. It’s called Thrive Liquid Lash Extensions.

I love it. It is a small company and production is slow and limited–I had to back order, but it was worth waiting. I have even received compliments on my eyelashes.

This is the one I’m using, and love…http://www.ulta.com/professional-remarkable-washable-mascara?productId=xlsImpprod10291026.

I can’t see spending double digits on a tube of mascara. This one holds it’s own when compared to the more expensive brands as per numerous on-line reviews. I hold a warm, wet washcloth on my eyes for a few seconds and then wash my face as usual. There’s a bit of black smudge left which wipes up easily with a non-oily makeup remover.

interestingly, i have not had any trouble at all taking the Blinc mascara off - just a washcloth with water and the “tubes” come right off. I am sure the other ones mentioned here are good too. Regular mascara was a total waste. Thrive products are usually very good too.

Additional info needed: do you tube mascara users need a lash curler? do you use it before or after applying mascara? Do you put mascara on your lower lashes?

I use a lash curler before I apply mascara. On occasion, I will give them another squeeze after I’ve applied mascara and it’s had time to set a bit (not just applied/damp).

I usually put a little mascara on the lower lashes, but not always.
