@conmama , Costco has Skorts for around $10-$15, pretty decent quality.
@conmama - I wear Nordstrom brand seamless underwear and they don’t have much of a line. I also am lucky that I’m slim through the hips and don’t have a lot in the hind quarter. I run hot so I wear a sports bra with a tank or sleeveless top for exercising. I have a few wicking tops but I also like to wear a loose fitting tank (I buy them at Old Navy, they are inexpensive and actually slightly cover your backside). I have a long soft hooded sweatshirt style top that I bought at Target in the lounge wear section. I wear that over if it’s cold outside or if I have to make a few stops. I also have a couple of denim tunic length blouses that I bring if I’m going out on my way home.
Thanks everyone ! Seamless underwear it is. My backside is long, so those won’t completely cover, but will look better than panty seams.
I wear loose clothing (usually shorts or crop pants) at the gym, including yoga class. It is not elegant, but that works for me (especially if I get a good spot w/o mirror view).
Taking a clue from DD, I’ve been buying fitness clothing at Goodwill. Each piece is only a few dollars, S\ if I don’t like it no big deal… I can just give it away. There is A LOT of variety of styles and sizes. Some of the items are new with tag, probably from people who at one time had good intentions to exercise. One Saturday it happened to be 50% off everything - all the better.
I’m now 7 lbs from my new goal weight. I’ve added in a stretching class on Sunday afternoon. The gym is quiet and I think it’s helpful.
My big issue today is that for some reason I’m starving. Craving something salty. I ate a Kind bar and I’m having a coffee to try to get past it.
How is everyone else feeling?
THis week i am expecting to gain 7~10 lb because of spring break. I mean, what else can I expect? I made newyork cheesecake and Sacher Torte!
@paul2752 guess I should declare victory by not gaining weight during our spring break week :)) @mom60 I am better at holding my intermittent fasting of 16-18 hours these days, today with a dr’s appointment then running on treadmill for 3 miles I was able to last for 18 hours and didn’t feel too bad, but once I started eating, my craving for carbs (mainly fruits) are hard to suppress. I have always been a fruit lover and have drastically reduced my fruit intake for a month, but the temptations creep in often and it has not been easy to say the least.
Hmm, we will see…I was planning to use this spring break for a “braek” anyway, so we will see who will lose more weight by the end of the May!
I am also trying to shed few kilos.
I’m down a total of 16 pounds from my heaviest weight last year. 12 to go to get to a BMI of 25, but I want to lose more than that. I’m starting to get compliments on how I’m looking!
That’s wonderful, @MaineLonghorn!
It took a year to take off the same extra weight that I took of 15 years prior (when a fitness center opened at work). This time I hope to keep it off, with better diet and running/walking. Cause I don’t want to do this all again when I am 70.
So I found an interesting low carb pasta recipe…if anyone wants a link PM me !
@paul2752, why don’t you just post the link here?
Happy that I’ve been holding my own after a significant foot injury and the deaths of two close family members to start 2018. As I wasn’t able to run, I focused more on diet and other types of activity, including chair aerobics! I’ve continued to lose weight in spite of not being able to exercise so intensely. This morning I went to yoga with a new instructor and actually enjoyed it. Back to a walk/run program 3 days a week until I see how it goes.
I also want to encourage everyone to get a physical and when your doctor orders labs get them done. It could save your life.
@sabaray your post was well-timed as I broke a toe yesterday and am worried about activity restrictions sidetracking my routine and derailing my weight loss. I am just seven pounds from my goal, and the My Fitness Pal math shows that to continue losing a pound a week, I need to drop to 1200 calories a day (I’ve been in the 1300-1500 range during the past year and my resulting 84 pound loss). Feels like my wiggle room for a small treat is gone, and I’m thinking that maybe losing half a pound a week is an acceptable rate!
You are doing great, @yauponredux! I don’t count calories for weight loss, but I wouldn’t cut yours any further. I think it’s very natural for weight loss to slow at the tail end of significant loss and you want it to come off and stay off, which is what I’ve struggled with over the years. I’m not sure what you typically eat, but for me eating a lean protein portion the size of my palm and two cupped palmful size servings of vegetables at each meal has been really effective. Have your small treat! Life is short.
When I couldn’t run I worried about cardio fitness and chair aerobics were suggested. I thought that was just for old people, but I googled hurt foot fitness and found some great workouts on YouTube. I don’t think we’re allowed to link, but there’s a woman named Carolyn Jordan who has some great videos for people who can’t exercise on their feet. I found them challenging.
@sabaray, it’s fine to link to YouTube videos.
I’m sorry to read about your broken toe! Ouch!
Good luck on your continued progress! Sounds like a tough year.
" losing half a pound a week" - Definitely acceptable! The speed you get to the goal is not as important as continued downward trend (or even just staying stable for a while).
