Depending on if you can leave the freezer alone, a good practice is to take those cupcakes/cookies/cake/brownies/whatever and cut it into small, allowable pieces/sizes right off the bat of getting them in the house. Wrap each up separately and put in a plastic Tupperware in the freezer. When you really need a piece, take ONE piece out and enjoy.

I do this often with sweets. It’s there in the freezer but not so reachable. And if it has to take time to defrost, then I’m also less likely to grab it on a whim.

I have lost 14 pounds in 6 weeks on WW. Still feel strong and committed. So far, so good. But I know myself and I will get discouraged at some point. When that happens, I need to somehow find the willpower to just go to the meeting, get some activity, and track my foods. This weekend we are going out of town for a wedding. I need to get to the grocery store and purchase some healthier snacks for the 4 hour drive than we usually get at Sheets. No more chips, ho-hos, Rolo like our “usual”. Also taking breakfast foods and other items because I don’t know what my MIL will have in her house. Tomorrow I will either walk around and around her trailerhood or go to the local high school and walk on the track. Wedding Saturday afternoon, then home on Sunday.

Anyone else having a temptation this weekend? I am telling myself that the wedding reception is only one meal out of 21 for the week. Going to try to stay in control.

Eddie,
I can tell you are in a very good frame of mind “place”. Yes, go to the store and get some snacks for the road - make them delicious too (apples and PB, your favorite cheese, a favorite protein bar, etc.). Yes, it is only one out of 21 meals for the week - so enjoy it but plan ahead for before and after to counterbalance! Yes, continue the WW during the good weeks and not so good if they happen - you are still making yourself accountable to SOMETHING. Yes, while your exercise options might not be what you are used to, where ever you are at will likely still have sidewalks, park or a track - a little effort and you can still exercise!

At the grocery store today I saw a new temptation upon us all–Nestle’s Crunch bars in “Girl Scout Cookie” flavors. I looked at the Thin Mint one, then put it back! Yay me.

Food manufacturers are EVIL.

As I typed that, I thought, 100 or more years ago we didn’t even HAVE food “manufacturers.” We had farmers, millers, bakers, cooks. Avoid manufactured food! :)

I’m still holding steady. But, company is coming tonight. For the third weekend in a row. I’m excited to see them, of course, but find it stressful to try to get ready. So, I’m doing my least favorite thing – cleaning. Will try to see if I can hold the stress eating monster at bay.

We’ll be going out to museum, dinner and a play in Manhattan on Saturday. I expect to have a nice meal - likely fish. The high salt content will probably make me gain weight, but I’m not expecting the damage to be too bad!

eddie, sounds like you’ve got a plan. I do agree with Alumother, Rolos aren’t snacks. My dh husband likes to stop at Dunkin Donuts when we go on long car trips. I didn’t even really enjoy the last donut I had there - so next time I’m either bringing a snack or just drinking coffee. We chew a lot of gum in the car. I don’t know if that will help you, but it often keeps me from feeling hungry.

mathmom, cupcake waste ended up not being a problem, but H and I will have to exercise extra this weekend. (Score of a possible 18 “points”: H 11, SnowflakeVT 7).

I have to track down my running clothes now, gotta go.

I take a 1200 mile (RT) car trip every couple of months. I usually pack carrot sticks, snap peas, apple slices and hard cooked eggs. It tends to be mindless eating for me regardless of what I take. I also keep gum in the car, just to have something to chew on.

Down 6 from Monday am – definitely water weight from traveling, though I have gotten back into my usual exercise and eating groove. Am still over where I was when we left for vacation, but at least there is progress.

EddieO, you are doing fabulous! I like to munch on carrot sticks and sugar snap peas in the car, as well as clementines (if you can find them – they are usually in the stores closer to Thanksgiving.

The new Wegmans in our area opened while we were on vacation. May go investigate this weekend, but I fear the crowds will be horrendous.

Sigh…I have been SO hungry lately. I’m planning a long day of yard work tomorrow just to keep myself occupied and too dirty to pick up food :-).

Back from the weekend in West Virginia. Made many, many more positive decisions than bad ones. For the car trip, I packed cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks, grapes, 100 cal almonds, bought 1 bag of M&M’s and split it between 2 baggies for hubby and I. Bought 2 salads at Safeway for the road. We stopped at a beautiful overlook to eat our supper. Soooo nice. I love God’s creation. Nature always gets to me. Stayed with MIL and SIL. MIL is talking out of her head, Parkinson’s and heart issues, etc. She is 86, I believe. I was so happy to give my SIL a break, she got some good sleep last night. I slept (if you want to call it that) with my MIL and took care of her needs during the night. I think that I will never see her alive again. Wedding was beautiful, I took notes. (Yes, I am THAT person.) I made some bad choices food-wise at the reception, why oh why did I stand right next to the cookie/chocolate covered strawberry table. Went right back to my “mindless eating” pattern. Oh well. I have tracked everything that I ate and am right back in control today. Ended up walking around the Trailerhood 3x while there, hubby went with me after the wedding reception. Odessagirl now on her way to Subway to get us some dinner, everything is under control. I will walk again tonight. Thank you all so much for your support and ideas. We DID have gum in the car enjoyed it today.
Weigh-in for this thread tomorrow morning (and Wednesday for some of us). Let’s go, everybody. Let’s have a great/healthy week!

Way to go eddie … sounds like a great weekend of good choices and time with family.

I had a parent’s weekend this past weekend … packed apples and carrots and other healthy things for the road, but also ate more for dinner than I should have. Not looking forward to weigh in tomorrow, but I thank all of you for keeping me honest.

Saw these recipes in my email this morning and thought of this thread - some good ideas here - I especially think the sweet potatoes sound amazing!!! (picture #8)

Week 2 weigh in for me…and I gained 1 pound! Very disappointing after a week of denying myself sweets and wine! I guess adding a bit of exercise into the mix is going to be required…
