Weighting question

My GPA is 2.4 (I know, right? Ugh.)
My “boyfriend’s” is 2.9.
I take honors/AP classes. He doesn’t.
He’s 35th in the class. I’m 36th.

My guidance counselor told me my grades were already weighted.
If that’s true, how am I so close to him in rank?
Does it look like my GPA is unweighted?

We can’t tell unless we know what your specific grades were. From what it sounds, your boyfriend gets higher grades than you.

In a weighted system…
For regular classes: ‘A’ is 4.0, ‘B’ is 3.0, ‘C’ is 2.0, and ‘D’ is 1.0.
For honors/AP classes: ‘A’ is 5.0, ‘B’ is 4.0, ‘C’ is 3.0, ‘D’ is 2.0.

Your boyfriend probably received B’s and C’s in regular classes while you received C’s and D’s in honors/AP classes.

Yes, that’s how our weighting system works…

Which is a little strange, because our grades are pretty much the same, and I’ve only recieved a couple D’s in my high school career.

^ Wow… I wish my school had that grading scale…
