Were any of your application essays leaked to the press today?

I was reading Gawker and Ivygate today, and they had about seventy application essays written by members of the Columbia class of 2017 that had put them on a shared Google drive they thought was private.

Were any of the essays yours? Have you been contacted by reporters due to identifying personal information in the folder? How do you feel about the whole thing?

While disappointing and dispicable, a leak like this should not be surprizing to a 2017 as most of them have come of age in an internet dependant world. Unfortunately pryers and hackers leak things on a daily basis.

I say own your essays, they helped get you in. If peer sites or students/alumni of other peer schools want to take shots at what you wrote, let them. Don’t look back, you’re in and that’s what matters. They’ll be plenty of time to stress(and stress there will be) in September why add to it now? Congrats to you, enjoy your current senior activities!
