Wesleyan Class of 2018 ED I Thread

I agree with both of you!

Even though the student body is small, it seemed like not all the freshmen knew each other yet. Many of them thought I was an actual student there haha

Haha yeah well by senior year you probably know a handful of people. Plus because of the community, the constant amount of things going on all the time, etc. you are constantly meeting people I would imagine.

Wes is a perfect size, I keep saying Wes is perfect though so maybe I have a bias.

Yeah my mom, sister, and friends have told me I have idealized Wesleyan haha

clearwater what do you mean by TAP? and glad to hear that your overnight was fun! your psych class sounds very interesting haha and i also heard that their lang classes are intense. where did you stay?

the overnight was great. actually i went on a sun night and it was the beginning of midterms week (didnt know that beforehand) but everybody was still active. my host was a freshman so we actually had dinner with new people shes never met before through a friend of a friend of a friend. it was so funny, the food was good that night, but everybody was apologizing to me that it was really bad that night. i met people in the dorm because it was board game night. generally everybody really loved wes and were extremely friendly. they all told me to come there. i actually met somebody that used to attend my rival school so that was funny. i also met an international student that was extremely nice. i was just asking her some random questions and all of the sudden she mentioned that the reason why she and a bunch of others got in was not because of their testing scores but the fact that they actually knew who they were and did whatever they did (does that make sense?) so that was prob the most encouraging thing i heard. theres still hope! hope to see you all there!

oh and guys when i first visited wes, took a horrible class (everybody was on fb and looked very bored). and then later at the info session, the admissions person was like nobody goes on fb during class. anyway, still knew wes was the perfect school despite that

sorry that was really long…

oh yeah danielfelsen, my host and her roommate said they generally stayed up till 3 am (or later) to finish hw in order to still have a social life

Yes they are holistic, but seriously your application is pretty much ideal in every regard. It’s not as if you have poor ECs or Grades, not meaning to single you out, but your confidence seems lower than it should be.

And I sat in on a freshman seminar music class last week about music in downtown new york, I didn’t realize it was a freshman seminar so it was very very basic stuff, (I expected a lot more theory analyzation) but the teacher was very nice and the students seemed interested and engaged. Only one of the students was not doing related work on their computer.

I stayed at 200 Church  and TAP is just their Transportation Assistance Program, so Wesleyan paid for my trip there

oh cool! were the dorms nice there?

They were nice. One thing I noticed was that their shower doors were a bit see through so you had to put your towel on the hanger so no one sees you naked. What dorm were you in?

oh that sucks, thats weird! is 200 church far away from the main campus? i stayed in clark in the writing hall. it was nice, they had an elevator. i couldnt get any cell reception in there for some reason though

I guess I see your point opiv but it’s still not a guaranteed acceptance. And yeah I sat in on a class about the music of 19th century america and the sacred harp. It was a seminar class as well so it wasn’t as intensive as I wanted but I know you can take private lessons and there are many non-seminar (major) music classes. Also I’m really hoping to do a lot with the film kids (film scoring) as I’ve probably mentioned 1000 times in this thread haha.

Do any of you guys know how the meal plan works Freshman year. I know they do “progressive independence” so each year you get more points towards groceries and things like that but as a freshman how exactly does it work. Do you have X amount of swipes, is there a limit to how much you can have in a meal?

Not completely sure, but I think the only dorms that are a bit far from campus are the senior houses and the apartments. 200 Church was right on campus.

dont know, sorry. oh ok cool

I dunno but a lot of people complained about not having enough points

I’m trying to not worry about that unless I actually get in haha

right now that’s irrelevant haha
