Was waitlisted but they’re need aware and didn’t send in my docs; I also didn’t like the school anyway so I don’t care. Was accepted to Pomona and like it much more so it’s all good
GPA: 99.15; ACT was 31
A girl at my school matched to wesleyan through questbridge and her class rigor is way less difficult than mine if that helps anyone
@WAITINGSOUL I belief that Wesleyan is labeled as “need-aware”. Unlike other elite colleges that claim to meet 100% of demonstrated need. Regardless, the difference is semantics anyway. The expected family contributions at all colleges are kind of crazy and it is almost expected that parents take on debt. Education got way too expensive compared to other expenses parents have.
@WAITINGSOUL , get your paperwork ready to make your case and then contact the Financial Aid office to appeal… Especially if you have a better aid offer from another school, you may be able to persuade Wesleyan to increase your aid.
@WilliamNYC Need-blind and full need are two very different things. While Wesleyan dropped its need-blind status a few years ago, it does indeed still meet 100% of demonstrated need. Of course, every school has a different formula, but Wesleyan became need-aware for 10% of the class precisely so that it could remain full-need…
@merething same! I cancelled my interview last minute because of complications with the interviewer, and I thought it was over. Surprised I was accepted.
Does anybody understand how AP credits work at Wesleyan? I checked the policy and it perplexed me. You can only have up to 2 credits and you also have to take the required courses in order to get the credits(for most AP). How does that even work? I don’t understand.
The courses fall under the Art Studio department. You can’t major in architecture specifically, but Wesleyan has a “university major” option where you can design your own major. I’d imagine you might be able to combine things from various departments, but it isn’t going to be the same as doing an architecture major at a school that specifically offers it.
@ricebowls I believe last year it was Thursday May 5th. But I assume they continued for a while after that since they accepted 55 in total off the waitlist.
