Wesleyan Class of 2021 Applicants Thread

Thank you

Accepted!

Anybody still waiting to hear? My son has not received a decision yet.

Has he checked the wescheck portal? That’s weird he hasn’t heard anything yet…

Congratulations @CatStevens! Well done.

^ wishing our fellow CC poster, @timcervera21 best of luck too.

Accepted! I’m so excited!!!
Also wishing every applicants good luck for all the choices to make!

FWIW, ED apps were up 16% this year with enough people for whom Wesleyan is their first choice among all colleges in the country, to fill the entire first year class if it chose to do so:

i was also deferred to ED2 sorry bro
@FRoosevelt what do you goona do?

I had a question on the ED 2 process. If I get some aid which is not equal to/close to the aid I want, do I get to weigh some colleges out from the RD round? Or do I HAVE to accept the offer no matter the aid I receive?

My understanding is that it’s no different from ED 1. You sign a contract and it’s binding but if you can’t afford to attend based on the offer, you can get out of it. I don’t think it’s easy though as Wesleyan is agreeing to meet demonstrated need.

From Unigo:

In most situations, a student will only be released from the Early Decision agreement if he or she believes the estimated financial aid package is not enough to be able to attend. Applying Early Decision will not allow students to compare financial aid packages from other universities. If comparing financial aid packages is important, the student should probably apply under the Regular Decision program.

I was deferred but not given the option for ED2. Do you think they knew that I have applied somewhere else ED2? Or is it because I wasn’t as strong a candidate?

@barb2021 i saw somewhere that they defer all applicants to ED2, however i was also deferred to RD; my guess is it’s because we have schools selected as ED2 already on common app

Hoping for the best for both of us, tarantinq

If you did not get accepted ED1 - odds are you should use your ED2 option somewhere else. ED2 is tougher in terms of % acceptance than ED1, although ED1 has many athletes you tend to get legacies in ED2. If you are super dedicated then hopefully your first semester 12th grade results are very strong and you can write a letter reiterating your strong desire to attend, that can help.

The interview request deadline was Dec. 16th, right? I accidentally thought you just had to submit your app by the 16th so I did it the 15th. But then I waited until today, the 17th, to actually request the interview. Will they still give me one?

I’m sure they will. Maybe December was the cut off before Chrisymas break. I would definately try again when they open back up in January.

Just got the assignment to an interviewer.

accepted ED

My son got accepted ed2 today
