WestJet: best Holiday ad EVER!

Since it was cheaper and reached more people than more conventional advertising, I expect to see other companies becoming more generous in an effort to win consumer goodwill.

I am still teary. What a great story. Thanks for sharing.

sorry, how do i post stuff, not like replies, but start a new thread??

The part I cannot figure out is how did they shop for the gifts (guessing they had volunteers poised at the underwear and sock store waiting for the orders), wrap the gifts and get them to the destination of the arriving flight??? Maybe there was a pretty large delay waiting for their luggage to arrive on that belt? Also, what about the travelers who visited Santa at the airport but only had carrying luggage and weren’t at the baggage carousel???

I’m obviously over thinking it, because it was a wonderful gesture. But the logistics must of been pretty complex.

Don’t know the time it takes to travel to Calgary from Toronto or Hamilton Int’l Airports, but I suspect the santa requests were categorized by type (clothes, electronics, sporting items etc) and quickly sent to the people stationed at those stores (the video says they “took notes”) and shows them running around at about minute 2 of the video and wrapping at about minute 2:45. Its cute. So is this video of the “magical piano” at Chicago’s Union station. Watch the whole thing, but especially the end (3:23 to the end). Adorable! <a href=“Chicago's Magical Piano - YouTube”>Chicago's Magical Piano - YouTube;

The shopping was done in Calgary so that the gifts would be ready when the planes landed.

Okay, that explains it. They did all the shopping and wrapping at the destination.

At the end of the video WestJet thanks its partners: Best Buy, etc. The partners deserve some credit also. I’m not sure of the role played by each but “they made this possible.”

Yes, coralbrook-- you see the packages being wrapped and put on the luggage conveyor belt at the arrival airport

There is an "outtakes " reel of Santa talking with people, and he actually says, to the guy asking for socks and underwear, “You are gonna wish you’d asked for a TV!” (or something like that! :)

I think it would be SO much fun to be one of the West Jet employees helping pull this off!!

Warms my heart.
