What A Harvard Guy Thinks About Yale!!!

So I got into both Yale and Harvard. As I am trying to decide which school to attend, I have asked a friend at Harvard for his opinion. A copy of his response follows. I am just curious what your reactions and comments will be, after you read it:

….You don’t have to wait for the fin aid from Yale and Harvard, they’ll cover everything. YOU HAVE TO COME HERE!!! All Yalies are nerds and they don’t have a good (country) community. Plus Harvard is ALWAYS on the top, and Yale behind. You should think very well. It will be a big loss, if you go to Yale. If you go to that blue swamp, I’ll never talk to you again.
Besides Harvard is the most selective from all and a Harvard diploma will give you very much, especially if you intend to major in International Relations. All BIG professors are here. You will have unique possibilities for research not only in the College, but also in the University. Academically, this is the best place. F*** off Yale!!! Yale is snobbish and the atmosphere is pretentious. Just for info over 85% of the people who got into both Harvard and Yale, chose Harvard.
Harvard is next to Boston which will open up additional opportunities. The drama troupes are the best, and most of them have connections to world-known actors. I don’t know much about Yale, but it is mainly for hardcore nerds, so when you decide, you should not think what will look best on your diploma, but how you intend to spend the next 4 years, because college is not only academics. We have great politic groups and great speakers come all the time – something that is very ill-developed at Yale. Time ago the debates about US president were here. This only shows how well-respected Harvard is.
Harvard has a great alumni net and Harvard clubs all over the world, which opens up additional opportunities. The campus is very compact, you have everything within reach. The last thing is that I will be here to answer all of your questions.
But I will not beg you. If you decide, go to Yale. But you will make the BIGGEST mistake ever. Harvard is Harvard, so think what you will lose if you go to Yale. According to me, you will lose a lot, and you will regret it until the rest of your life….

So, guys, what do you think???

I think he writes and argues quite poorly.

I think talking to that guy would CERTAINLY convince me to go to Yale if there had previously been any doubt whatsoever.

I think its a joke. With that horrific english, there’s no way he’s at Harvard. Maybe Harvard Extension School with Hduff.

Yea crimsonbulldog, I’m guessing the writer isn’t a native speaker,. That he pulls together irrelevant generalizations, unsupported assertions, uh, personal threats ooh,my knees are shaking, desperate derogatory comments, rampant assumptions and thank-you-captain-obviouses doesn’t help much either.

you are right, crimsonbulldog, he is not a native speaker. What bothers me though is not the language, but his weak arguments…

The presidential debates may have been at Harvard, but now the candidates are from Yale

LOL

“I don’t know much about Yale…”

That sums it up quite nicely.

Also funny is how he uses the exact weaknesses harvard has and projects them onto Yale (lack of community for example). Looks like he’s suffering from a slight case of displacement!

“The presidential debates may have been at Harvard, but now the candidates are from Yale”

Undergrad at Yale. Grad work at Harvard :)

Well, I have been of a much higher opinion of Harvard before reading this post. The only thing that could redeem Harvard would be that the guy is actually not from H. If he is, H is not even worth filling out the applications.

i totally agree with the “undergrad at yale, grad at harvard” renotse! i got into both as well but am definitely leaning yale now. the H boy’s assertions were definitely not supported and the “hard core nerd” seems to be more of an H stereotype; additionally, harvard was LESS selective than yale last year

I do agree with Yale - undergrad, Harv - grad thing as well.

Go to www.harvardsucks.org. See the truth. I am going to Penn next year but if I were to have a choice between Harvard and Yale, I would DEFINITELY go to Yale. I have lived near Yale all my life and I can tell you Yale is absolutely awesome. The campus is gorgeous and the students are much more relaxed and social. Harvard kids study too much and have no fun whatsoever. Go Bulldogs!

I got into both, too.

Harvard-bashing/Yale-bashing is such a waste of time. No place is perfect. Don’t let what some blockhead “Harvard” student says about Yale diminish your opinion of the institution. There are idiots at/from Yale too, you know. (points in the direction of DC). :-P

“points in the direction of DC” lol :):):)

***!!!
Hillary Duff goes to HARVARD???

hmm, I was taken aback by Johnathon Taylor Thomas, but please, you have to be joking Crimson Bulldog…

Summary of his arguments: Harvard is Harvard, Harvard has a big name, a Harvard degre will get you far in life because it is more recognized… blah blah blah Harvard…

This are the only arguments that I’ve heard that support Harvard over Yale… and it has only reaffirmed my desire to attend Yale/Princeton

Hillary Duff goes to the Extension School at Harvard. Anyone can go there, so it’s not special.

The best Harvard argument is Cambridge. Yale trumps Harvard in a lot of ways, but Cambridge is one hell of an awesome town.

Mariela’s friend said … “Time ago the debates about US president were here. This only shows how well-respected Harvard is.
Harvard has a great alumni net and Harvard clubs all over the world,”

This guy has some serious issues and sounds more like a 12 year old having a tantrum. The debates about US presidents might have been there, but now the US presidents themselves are from Yale. And speaking of clubs, Yale has loads, among other things. I think his friend got rejected from Yale, that’s why he hates us so.

Just an honest opinion.
