This could be advice on anything - friends, relationships, academics, sports, extracurriculars, hobbies, etc.
Do your homework. Work up to your potential in school. Don’t be put off from what you are interested in just because no one in your family has worked in that field before.
only a couple years older But don’t be afraid to have fun. You can have fun and attend parties, just don’t do anything you’d regret the next morning ;). School matters but your happiness and excitement to go to school every day is even more important.

Listen carefully when others speak. Try not to anticipate what they will say but really listen. Try to understand their perspective.
Do not be afraid of criticism. Learn from it. You are not perfect and that’s okay.
