what after an ivy education for intnls?

what happens after an ivy league education? for internationals that is…

you get a job or do an internship or go off to grad school… my family friend (intl student) went to NYU and is doing an internship with Goldman sach in HK

Exactly what happens to a domestic student, except that you might have to struggle a bit more to get a job (work visas and all that).

after graduation we’re packed off in a ship or end up working as convenience store clerks in springfield. or we die, but then few people have it that good.

taemi, i didn’t know you could be funny :D.

“i can be, if i put my mind to it!” :)

in the real world i am pretty funny. here i just sound obscene!

yeah, i’m more funny online than in the real world, in the real world, i’m just the person who goes and sits in the corner while everyone’s laughing and having a good time because i don’t know how to join group conversations.

you know, we’re hijacking all the threads on the international forum. AND we talk on Facebook, orkut and GMail Chat.

is that a good thing or a bad thing? (or just plain creepy? or perfectly normal?)

it’s just a… thing. observation.

I am going to be a teacher with Teach for America.

wow, you people actually know Orkut, I thought it was only a Brazilian phenomenon!! I’ll probably come back to Brazil, find the cure for AIDS and win some Noble Prize, hopefully by then the president won’t be a complete idiot who has less education than my 10 year-old sister.

taemi and TheOneCurlyFry, you guys are sooo cute! are you both indian?

orkut is full of Indians and Pakistanis and Brazilians, and I intensely dislike it, but I need it to keep in touch with school friends, since no one has a Facebook.

yeah, we’re both Indian. >.<. why are we cute. I’m cute, taemi’s so not cute.

thanx a lot Tocf and taemi for hijacking this thread…[:D]

anyway can i please get some more concret answers…

ahem…i beg to differ…
(at this point i must add…i am a guy)

anyway karthik you’ll only get your answer if you can specify a field of study.
every ivy leaguer (or any student) for that matter doesn’t study the same thing you know.

And of course not giving an answer’s so much more fun (now what else could I possibly be referring to??; tell you what Kriti, we’ll let you know in 4 years. :)

Hahahahaha… give her a break and tell her. Or don’t. Make her wait. :D

They go back to their home country and become immensely rich and successful no matter what their level of actual competence, simply because they have a degree from an ivy league university. Expect to become head of state, a top minister, or if you do really well, a despot. If you aren’t offered a 6-figure salary (US$) in your first job straight after you receive your degree you are being ripped off and you should demand more money from your employer.

;)

@ nauru: the six figure salary only comes wih being a CS major or econ or engineering etc. i know some english, drama, communication, art etc. majors who are umm, “unemployed”

Methinks nauru was being just a tad sarcastic there :)
