Right now, I’m a sophomore, so I can’t take APs but…

Junior Yr:
Biology (takes up 2 periods)
English Language
Spanish Language
U.S. History
…also, I’m taking Honors Physics & Honors Precalc. I’d take Stat but no room…

Senior Yr:
Calculus AB/BC
Chemistry (takes up 2 periods)
English Literature
European History
Physics B/C (takes up 2 periods) OR Stat & Art History

Yea, we couldn’t take AP’s Sophomore year and I was limited Junior year, because of my schedule. I took Junior Year AP Composition and Senior Year AP Chemistry, Literature, US, and World.

Sophomore: World History
Junior: Chemistry; U.S. History
Senior: U.S. Government or European History, Biology, Physics B, Calculus BC, English Literature

Sophomore: World History
Plan on:
Junior: AP English III, AP Computer Science, AP US History, if i can fit European History
Senior: AP English IV, AP Stat, AP Chem or Physics, AP Gov and Economics, AP Calculus AB

Am I missing something here? When you say self-study, do you mean just taking the AP test without taking the course? I am not sure my school lets me do that though I haven’t verified yet. I am probably going to take less than 5 APs because of the high grade/average (93+) necessary to take that many APs. I think I am lacking information because your plans makes me look like a failure. (I could only wish to take Calculus at Junior year)

Also, anybody can do it. Your school can’t stop you. Anybody who wants to take an AP test can register for one. I’m pretty sure you can do it at another school also, as long as you get it cleared by them.

Currently I am a sophmore, taking AP Govt
Junior: AP English
Calc BC
AP World History
AP Chem
AP Psychology

Senior: Multivariable Math
AP Bio
AP English

I know Junior year is very critical to the admission process, but will I be overloading myself with all the AP classes in Junior. I am not sure if I really want to take AP Psychology in 11th grade, afraid that might have lots of readings.

My son took AP Computer A, AP US History, AP Physics B as a junior (none offered to sophomores). He also took the AP English Comp exam (self studied). As a senior, he has AP Computers B, AP Physics C, AP English, AP Calc AB & AP Econ (macro & micro) & marching band. He’s pretty satisfied with his schedule.

Don’t understand your question–most students (or at least their schools) pay for each AP exam administered. At our kids’ school, it’s about $82/exam. The cost of the exams does add up, but if it allows you to enter college with credit & more options about what you want to take & graduate earlier or explore more courses than you would have otherwise been able to, it seems well worth it to us (tho of course, it would be nice if exams weren’t quite so expensive).

Yeah, son wanted to take AP Psych, but it conflicted with his AP Physics C, so he opted to continue studying physics instead. We told him he can easily take psych at college but he’ll never have the same physics teacher he’s now having for his 2nd year. Nice small class & teacher who really cares about the kids is always a good thing, especially when things get confusing in the course.
