What are good books for self-studying?

I want to take AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP American History, and HP Physics. But I don’t really know anything about them so I want to self study so when the time comes for me to take them I’ll already understand the concepts and know how to do the problems. Are there any good books that will help me reach my goals for self-studying? All I need is to understand them and know how to do the problems well, I don’t need anything on SAT or AP Tests just yet, but if it’s included in the book then all the better.
Thanks in advance.

The textbook?

What kind of textbook? Some aren’t really explained well enough.
And textbooks can be expensive.

Are you actually studying for the tests this May, or do you just want to know some of the material? Some textbooks commonly used in the classes might be available at the library. Or you could get the Barron’s prep books for the AP tests.

I just want to know some of the material so I can prepare for next year. The library is a good idea. But the textbooks my school uses aren’t really good. Are there any good textbooks to use, that explains the concept thoroughly?
