What are good grades for an international?

Hi, so I know that being an international student only makes it more competitive, but how much more? I ask this because I’ve seen people saying that 3.7-3.8 GPAs are too low. I’m referring to schools like top 25 national universities and top 20 LACs. I know that this may vary because countries have varying standards of education and it might be easy to earn an A(90+) in some countries and near impossible in others but what is your opinion on this?

If you can afford to pay the full cost, provided your GPA is the local equivalent of the GPA range for the institution you are looking at, you are nearly as likely to be admitted as a US candidate.

If you need any financial aid at all, things are completely different.
