I was homeschooled up until I reached 8th grade when I started taking classes at the local community college. I am now currently a junior. My GPA is a 3.6 and my PSAT score was a 182 and I have not taken the SAT yet. Extracurricular activities include dance for 14 years, violin for 15, in the Phoenix Youth Symphony for 4 years, being a member of a Venture crew for 4 years, and varsity cross country/track for 1 year. I don’t have much volunteer work though. I also live in Arizona. Based on this information, what do you think my chances of getting into Barrett are? Thank you!

Honestly it’s hard to tell. I know some people with very good credentials who were rejected. But my friend, whose gpa was around 3.5 or maybe less, got in. I think they look at people more holistically. He was really involved with music and teaching, and was accepted as a music Ed major. He’s also a very good writer. So if you are able to write a good essay and show that you are dedicated to something, you may get in despite less than perfect stats, but you may not. It all depends on who they’re looking for at the moment they reach for your application.
