What Are Some Interesting Quotes For A Quote Project?

The title pretty much explains everything. In english class we have to chose a quote, and have the class analyze it and what it means to them. Anyway, so if anyone has any interesting quotes to share, feel free to :)

Henry David Thoreau has -alot- of interesting ones. Always the best.

This is one of my favorites. I used it for one of my Princeton essays.

I don’t know if it would work for the assignment, though.

Charles J. Sykes~ “Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.”

I love Terry Pratchett.

Terry Pratchett is amazing. Some others:

i went to the woods because i wanted to live deliberately

Calvin and Hobbes

Go to Wikiquote.com :)

BirdKiller, I really don’t like your name.

Meh, it makes me jealous to see these animals fly in the air as if they don’t know the force of gravity even exists. For such a small animal, they can reach their destinations rather quickly while we’re stuck on two legs! Their freedom, their privilege, their pleasure of flying makes me want to flap my arms too…only to reflect that of a penguin. I don’t mind the salvation of penguins, if they ever saw their relatives fly, they too would be the thinking the same thing: “Why me?” Let’s not mention the Kiwis, those animals literally have to walk like us, no air like birds and no water like penguins; Just pure walking and poking on the ground to get some grub.

And to add cholesterol to this punctured heart, these birds are dumb! DUMB! It’s like seeing your average joe get accepted to HYPNOSIS or whatever universities you CCers are willing to donate all your blood to be accepted. These animals get hit by windows, peck the mirror that reflects themselves, and don’t learn that you never poop on the person that feeds you!

“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”

“Attitude reflect leadership… captain.”
Remember the Titans

“God gave men both a ***** and a brain, but unfortunately not enough blood supply to run both at the same time.”
-Robin Williams

They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.

 • Andy Warhol

“The real trouble with reality is that there’s no background music.”
I don’t know who said it.

“I am not wrong, just differently correct!”

“Biologists think they are biochemists, biochemists think they are physical chemists, physical chemists think they are physicists, physicists think they are God, and God thinks he is a mathematician.”

“Let epsilon be less than zero…” <- How many of you get this one? I would like to know.

Do not ever say that the desire to “do good” by force is a good motive. Neither power-lust nor stupidity are good motives.
– Ayn Rand

So you think that money is the root of all evil. Have you ever asked what is the root of all money?
– Ayn Rand

The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.
– Ayn Rand

There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: the fashionable non-conformist.
– Ayn Rand

What men find in the spectacle of the ultimate triumph of the good is the inspiration to fight for one’s own values in the moral conflicts of one’s own life.
– Ayn Rand

The public be damned!
– W. H. Vanderbilt

Also, I love:

If anyone slays a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew all people. And if anyone saves a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all people.

There’s alot of different wordings of that, one of the most famous phrases being on Schindler’s List (bleuch! but that’s another story), cited for being both in the Qur’an and the Talmud. I think the original Talmudic quote deals with only saving one of Israel, but nevertheless, the quote can be used just the same.

PS: Yummm Howard Roark. He was my first literary crush blushes.
