i can’t find like any!! name some!

A bagger at a grocery store? That’s all I can think of.

try some kind of mom and pop store. they generally hire younger people than big chain stores do.

At 14 the only option is under the table. Try local restaurants and such.

I live near an amusement park (Worlds of Fun) and they hire 14 year olds. So, if you live near an amusement park, maybe you could see if they hire at age 14.

Depends on where you live, really. Some places, you could easily get some work at a grocery store; I live in NJ and the local A&P wouldn’t hire my brother because he’s 15 (most jobs here you need to be 16).

You have to search “Child Labor Law” of your state to find information not only about occupations but also about hours allowed to work.

For example Texas Child labor law http://www.twc.state.tx.us/ui/lablaw/cllsum.html

Both permitted and prohibited occupations are listed.

New Jersey child Labor law http://www.state.nj.us/labor/lsse/lschild.html

If you are told in NJ that you cannot be hired at the grocery store show them the law and promise problems with the government for discrimination.

child labor laws bad

You can’t threaten problems with the gov’t, almost every job in Central Jersey requires 16+ although you are allowed to work at them (according to your link).

I’m sure if it was age discrimination someone would have made an attempt to legally make companies hire them.

Sorry, I probably misunderstood what A&P is. Do they sell hazardous chemicals?

At the age of 14 you can be a sales person according to the provided link.

http://www.state.nj.us/personnel/forms/pdf/dpf-481.pdf

YOU DON’T NEED A LAWYER FOR THIS COMPLAINT.

I doubt 14 years olds know too much about their rights, that’s the reason there are not too many complaints, but I am sure they exist, you just have to prove that discrimination happened.
Something written, tape recording…something

lol…

McDonalds, Burger King… that’s about it haha. Places like that. I couldn’t find a job when I was 14.

i worked at subway when i was 14

Publix, as a grocery bagger.

You have to be 14.5 yrs old, which I just became not too long ago :D

If you look 14…not good. You can try the very very mom-pop stores.

If you look older, you will have a chance at the local grocers or something.

I doubt employers would want hire a 14 year-old, unless you look and act like 17. Remember, other people will be competing for the same job with much more experience and much older. And even if you looked older, employers don’t like to hire people so young because they are not as beneficial as somebody that would be 18 for example. I think you would really need to have good connections in order to get a legal job. May be like if you helped your dad during the weekends, and he would pay you. Good Luck.

The grocery store I work at hires baggers and cashiers at age 14.

However, I think the reason for this^ is that we do not sell alcoholic beverages or cigarettes at grocery stores in Massachusetts?

Armando, I work at Publix. ahhahaa.

I worked as a chambermaid at a small inn when I was 14. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re desperate for money.
