What are some tips to improve my gpa?

I really need to raise my gpa and do better next semester. What are some tips you guys have or use to get better grades? Some study techniques or anything really? Ah please help.
Also on how to study for finals. I have a d in a class I want to get an a on the final what are some strategies? Thanks guys.

Intrinsic motivation trumps all else. Why do you need to raise your GPA and do better? People often struggle with improving grades, but if you are truly motivated it’s just a matter of opportunity costs. What are you willing to sacrifice?

I had a time in high school where my grades all tanked a month and a half before finals. Feeling overwhelmed with school and everything else, I decided to swallow my own entertainment. I put away my video games, deact’d FB/twitter/tumblr/whatever, and had a website blocking app in case my motivation wavered. A bit overboard, but it got the job done and I know a few friends who had similar bouts of “Work Hard, Play Hard later”.

What I found particularly useful was having a neat journal and writing down what I wanted to accomplish daily and what I DID get done daily. I kept a portable timer next to it so I could keep myself on track. It’s a lot easier to work in rushed time blocks than “eight hours after school”.

As for finals, everyone has their own thing. No one can give you a proper answer because you learn differently than most people. I like to cram the week before, other people work better when they prepare months prior to the final.

Best of luck!
