I’m tired of brand new posters, registered within minutes, asking funky questions.
Oh, and Dunboyne, one sitting, minimal studying. As if that makes you realllly special.
^is there a box for minimal studying in the Common App?
Ones where a poster starts a thread to garnish support and when they don’t get the support that they’re looking for stops responding . Then purely coincidentally a new poster appears with a very similar problem in another post just minutes after the original poster goes silent in the similar post. Hmm.
Yes, @carolinamom2boys and better yet when you find that the original poster has been copied and pasted word for word her CC thread to another internet forum because she didn’t like the responses to her thread on CC.
Threads where people talk about extremely expensive or rare wines, travel destinations, etc. and assume that everyone have heard of them and know exactly what they’re talking about. I realize this forum skews upper-class, but come on!
^^How else do you find out about fun stuff, if not from people doing/seeing/eating cool things/places/food?
Is there really a “rare wine” thread?
I find some of it bragging though. Depends. (I havent seen rare wines mentioned.) I was stunned when one made a point of how wealthy a child is. Beyond millions. Did I need to know?
Ones where they expect an OOS public to match a IS full ride.
Bragging should stay in the Bragging Thread, which I enjoy bc ppl can celebrate their successes (big or small) and we can cheer for them, or ignore the thread if not in the mood!
Where is this supposed “rare wine” thread?
Back in the old days there was a great wine snobs thread. Lots of helpful suggestions were posted there.
Threads where several posters tell the OP the same thing on multiple threads and OP contacts the school and confirms this information and then posts said information is CONFIRMED like it is some how new information and the people that were taking the time to answer her original questions were somehow clueless and didn’t really know what they were talking about!
I haven’t seen the thread, but if it was a question they could ask the school, and they were going to call the school anyway, then why come here to ask in the first place?
Threads where a poster brags that his / her high stat child received big merit money from several schools, and then insists that that kind of money must be out there for the taking for anyone who wants it. Even at top schools. And suggests that colleges will just give you more, if you only just ask for more. And refuses to consider any evidence to the contrary, put up by posters with more apparent experience on this issue.
BC their big merit was probably FA the school called a scholarship…
@wustl93 better yet, the ones that post that their high sats kid “will be” receiving huge merit money but haven’t even actually been accepted yet and insist that every kid should apply to their DREAM school because you never know they could get a full ride - even though those schools don’t give merit aid!
Threads where a NEWLY arrived, prolific poster constantly writes SENTENCES where words are randomly CAPITALIZED. It make my EYEBALLS go bonkers, and I don’t UNDERSTAND why they do so.
^^LOL maybe because they are too lazy to put the bold markings in…like me sometimes.
Threads from students who wonder if they will get need based aid at $70,000 a year schools…with incomes that are ten times the national average per year.
