What are the most annoying threads on CC?

Oh, NORTHWestern Podunk State! L-)

The constant disparaging of teachers.

Hatred spewed against any profession as a whole, law enforcement and teachers included. Every profession has a few bad apples, and some posters use an awfully wide brush without any real knowledge of the career or its risks.

The threads that ask if it’s worth it to BORROW $250k to attend dream school.

Most annoying or most entertaining? Too bad we can’t give out awards for 'coptering.

Threads where a person will ask a legitimate and specific question and either one of two things will happen:

(1) a poster will respond by asking every intrusive and unrelated question under the sun. Which seems like either voyeurism or pot stirring.

or

(2) a responder will completely ignore the actual question and pass judgment on some piece of information that just happens to be in the post, and then other posters will pile on, leaving the original question either unanswered or misunderstood.

It does seem like the same people do this regularly for their own enjoyment.

Any thread where high school kids pose as experts. On some threads, I feel like they should be required to present an id at the door.

But there are some hs and college kids we love.

Where the OP who is a parent asks a question and their parenting style Is then attacked. No reason to attack the OP if they don’t parent the same way as you do.

The threads that start off about something specific about colleges and dissolve into yet another “prestige isn’t all it’s cracked up to be” and “Big State U Honors is just as good as [insert elite college]” vs “all decent opportunities for top-scoring kids are in the Top 20 colleges, unless it’s not affordable, then Big State U is great” and “it’s prestigious for a reason” yadda yadda yadda - the never ending debate that is never answered to everybody’s satisfaction.

The threads where OP needs validation that he should go to school X, because complete strangers on the internet deem it slightly more prestigious than school Y.

The Chance Me threads that start: “my SAT score is 1700, but I expect to raise it to 2250…”

^ Or else they have yet to take the SAT, or even a practice test, and say, “I expect 2250.” =))

Threads where a 17 year old is giving advice on the best route to a career in investment banking. I usually just laugh.

^^^Wow, really?!

@nrdsb You must have seen threads like that on CC!

Where is it?!!

The ones where a parent quotes a kid’s stats and then adds that he “will get” a 750+ on the two SAT2s he’s taking next week.

International kids who says UVa is a lower tier in his/her thread. Absolutely inane statement

^ But needs full FA.

Lol then don’t apply to UVa…apply to somewhere else.
Come to think of it, another type of annoying thread is when international kids ALREADY applied to state universities and complain about not getting any FA. Pinnacle of stupidity
