What are the most annoying threads on CC?

“Follow My Journey” threads. Look at me, I am special, everyone will want to read the minutiae of my college search, even though it is pretty much just like everyone else’s. I am the generation that blogs all, so I am going to do that here for your enlightenment. Please give me a participation trophy.

All caps int the title. I feel like screaming too.

(Probably already said, but #502 made me think of this…)

The “Help me” or other completely non-descriptive title.

Expanding on the above, threads in the Financial Aid forum that are titled “Financial Aid” and threads in the College Search and Selection forum that are titled “College Search”.

the threads that have helicopter parents- how to find college graduate S/D a job, grad school, partner, apartment.

High school kids reading each others’ college essays. Who in right minds would trust other competitors???

The threads where the OPs insist they are First Gen college students because both their parents got their PhDs in another country.

@GMTplus7 wow I want to see those threads! Could you give me a link?

Another one I find extremely annoying is that , domestic applicants chancing INTERNATIONAL students.

The thread where OP asks:

“what school is the best for the finance so that I can have higher salary when I graduate?”

The “I am poor with top stats, I want a full ride that pays for everything including shampoo, I didn’t work over the summer, Questbridge is too much work”- type of thread.

The threads where someone whines “Please don’t turn this into a political discussion.”

What about discussing the FEDs? Are they too political?

My child is entering 9th grade and hasn’t taken the PSAT yet. I am expecting he will do really well and get at least a 33 on the ACT and be a national merit semifinalist I also expect he will have a 4.0 g.p.a Do you think they have a chance at a top 20 college?

What are my chances for “insert Ivy League school here”

The threads that are purposely tanked by people , who know better, interjecting politics, which is not allowed.

[Insert obligatory response to #515 making broad generalizations about opponents and supporters of Barack Obama, John Boehner, Donald Trump, abortion, the death penalty, taxes of whatever sort, plus whatever other hot-button issue or candidate of the day is, and then managing to insult them all. Make sure it opens with, “Not trying to turn this into a political discussion, but…”]

The ACT scores are out. No wait, they’re not! Oh, yes, there they are! But not minnnne! I can’t eat, I can’t sleep, I will fail my test today! Oh wait, there is mine. DRAT! I only got a 35! I need to sign up right now to take it for the 5th time!

dfbdfb,
Post 515 was in response to post 511. The annoying threads are when a topic is immediately turned political, overtly or covertly.

Other annoying threads are those with the asm argument being repeated over and over and over. The topic of the argument hasnt changed, but some feel the need to absolutely beat it to death.

Any thread with a subject heading that is not specific enough to reveal what the issue is. “Help me!” as a subject doesn’t help.

Agree with@raclut. The premature postings (chance my 8th grader) are annoying, I also laugh when I see "how can i improve 500 points? as though it is possible i
