What are the most annoying threads on CC?

The threads where someone whines “Please don’t turn this into a political discussion.”

It was meant to be a critique of instances when the thread or comment wasn’t purely political to begin with.

  1. The threads where certain "boosters" have an agenda to promote a school and try to twist any data or info to turn it into a reason that school X is among the best schools in the country. Similar threads are those in which the "boosters" deny/ignore any negative facts or info about their beloved.
  2. The threads where people have a vendetta against a school and regularly repeat inaccurate points.

Any thread on the parent forums where an 18-year old buds in to give worldly advice and uses dramatic words such as ‘infantilize’ while misinterpreting FERPA.

The threads where the HS students think they have more experience than the parents. Oh wait, that’s most of them.

The most annoying are ones that are YEARS old that folks bump up.

The threads where people make points that were made pages and pages before, multiple times.

When people cite research they haven’t vetted or treat some media article as gospel just because it exists and they read it.

When poster has not bothered to read the article he or she or they are quoting.

That was by accident. I thought I bumped up the new one.

As if “tldr” (too long, didn’t read) is the excuse to do it.

People who type…well, quite lengthy posts - and … have alot of ellipses because…they are trying to make it sound like they are, ummm…talking - and / or …they are trying to pause while thinking…or…possibly. …trying to emphasize a point.

Agree with Madison. Some posts are so long its hard not to have ones eyes glaze over or fall asleep by paragraph 4. Get to the point!

Threads started by spammers with links to pay per view boxing matches etc!! I am reporting every single one of them. Thanks, mods!

Uh oh…I recognize me here…

Ditto, BB! The spammers usually post overnight or early in the morning and blitz a bunch of forums. I report them and occasionally, when its early and before my morning cuppa joe, may tell them were to go with their spam (well, in more diplomatic words)

Speaking as a moderator, the spammers are very frustrating to me, since there is no way to block them in advance.

Thanks, skieurope! I appreciate the job you guys do.

I think CC has a lower incidence of spamming than other websites I frequent, because we have so many vigilant reporters and moderators! I don’t think we’re an attractive target to many spammers for that reason.

Christmas threads in September. And I say this as a grumpy poster who can’t even stand the massive displays of Halloween candy that were setup middle of this month 6-7 weeks before the holiday. It’s too early !!!

^^If I buy Halloween candy now it will probably eaten before Halloween.
