In fact, this thread is THE MOST ANNOYING THREAD ON CC!!!
Yet another junior in high school asking about merit at OOS publics with a projected ACT score.
Threads which ask which schools have the “most holistic” admissions (i.e.which schools will overlook the OP’s mediocre stats).
Threads in which the OP has a 3.3 and says
"I’m not really looking for a merit scholarship (If it would cause me to chose a school below my potential). "
Um, yeah.
Threads asking which overseas volunteer program (i.e. poverty tourism trip) would look best on their CV.
A new low…
Rationalizing that being raped at age 15 is a hook to get into Harvard.

^ @GMTplus7 I think the post is more about the student’s artistic talent.
Threads with vague or misleading titles. If you are asking a specific Q about a specific topic: e.g., Italian AP exams or the odds of getting need based aid with an income of $150K, please don’t title your thread Urgent Help Needed!
Threads that have this
It’s actually kind of sad.
Some posters should add this disclaimer to their initial post:
Only posts that support my position and make me feel good allowed in this thread.
That thread where the person is probably asking for help on a term paper, but it’s impossible to decipher the OP.
The ones where it’s hard to squeeze in some random brag about your kid.
The threads where if any poster who obviously goes to a particular college posts negative information about said school, he or she is immediately accused of having a grudge. Bonus points if the person accusing the student has only toured the school.

Any thread featuring the phrase “tippy top.”
Nails. on. chalkboard.
Any post using the words Chance Me
Any post where the OP cites a low composite ACT but promises on retake s/he’s sure to go up five or more points magically
When a student thinks they can count on a very high ACT or SAT score at the next sitting - unrealistically high. Also that all the highly selective schools applied to will result in an acceptance and no plan B. Finally, when poster decides that the rules/deadlines don’t apply to them - they (or S/D) are after all the special snowflake.
The ones where the titles are
ALL IN CAPS-- URGENT-- LOTS OF EXCLAMATION POINTS!!! AND ASTERISKS FOR EMPHASIS*
And, as a sort of corollary to that, when the student asks for schools to apply to with an SAT or ACT score that they think/hope/wish! they could get, and not identifying that they haven’t gotten the score!
Oh, let’s add in the
I waited until the veerrrryy last minute, and now things aren’t working for me and IT’S NOT MY FAULT and who can I blame?
threads.
- Any post where the first sentence begins with "so" or "guys" i.e. "So I want to go to ivies only..." or "Guys does anyone know...."
- Projected scores.
- Bumps, or should I say buuummmppp.
- People with low stats asking when they will here about their scholarship. This is rampant on Rutgers threads. One actually says poster is wait listed, so when will they hear about scholarships if accepted.
- Posters who didn't get scholarships and think they will get them later once other scholarship recipients decline.
