What are the most annoying threads on CC?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/fordham-university/1847929-what-are-my-chances-of-getting-into-fordham-p1.html

Multiple posters stating 1600 SAT is probably too low for Fordham. OP says thats ok, I got into Purdue. Yeah. Ok.

Thread where OP states he knows its harder to get into Stanford transfer(1.95%) but somehow logically concludes that differentiating yourself from 2k transfer applicants is easier than differentiating from 42k Freshmen applicant.

As of this posting, there are 107 posts on this thread complaining about “Chances” threads.

Can we stipulate now that they are indeed annoying, and move on?

You counted?!

The ones written by 12 year olds obsessing about standardized test scores, GPAs and ECs. I was still playing with dolls at 12 and I turned out just fine.

@ClaremontMom --search function, gives a count. :slight_smile:

Re #902, I was wondering how long it would take someone to bring that thread up! No words …

This being noted…had to be a fake post.

What are my chances for med school? I haven’t taken the MCAT yet.

Threads like this http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1861700-vassar-college.html where a person posts for the first time to promote their hyperbolic opinion, and, so it seems, their own publication.

@jym626 - Back on #560 (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/18829634#Comment_18829634) I made the following suggestion in regards to first time posters that disappear after one post. But it would apply here as well:

It wouldn’t stop all annoying threads, but it might slow them down!

The NYC-or-Bust threads. Some posters are so worshipful of “NY” that they are too geographically challenged to comprehend that western NY and upstate NY are nowhere near the City.

Threads asking if they should apply to a really obscure major so it’ll be easier to get in… even if they have shown absolutely no interest in the major.

Guys, I love the idea of this thread, and hope it still goes on, but is there any way I can stop receiving notifications on it? I’ve never followed the thread but posted something on it a few years ago.

@AGoodFloridian - Go to your settings and uncheck “Notify me when people comment on discussions I’ve participated in.”

Let’s not forget the threads that proclaim:

I am so so so so so very very smart.

But I haven’t quite figured out how to use Google.

So could you get me a list of schools worthy of someone of my stature??

People who start “official thread” for COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Chance me at HYPS I have 2400 / 4.0 threads

Any thread where a member’s sense of SUPERIORITY virtually oozes off the page.

Bump.
