^The tech guys say they hope to have that fixed within a week or so.

Well, we can’t complain about no post numbers anymore…

Threads asking for chances at elite schools in which the OP misuses their/there/they’re, to/too, your/you’re, etc.

I have given in to the recent flood of run-on sentences (no, dude, a comma is not enough to separate two independent clauses…), but seeing third-grade mistakes by people shooting for the stars is shocking.

^YES!!!

The thinly veiled racism in threads from upper-middle-class white kids who whine about the “unqualified” minorities that took their perfect Jake or Emma’s spot at HYPSM.

The people who bash the south/midwest (otherwise known as “flyover country”) because they are on the much-more-enlightened east coast.

Threads when he says “Hey guys, can you chance me? I’m a (some stats that are typical overachievers). Am I good for Johnie Hopkins, YAAAAAALE, Hahvad, etc.? Oh, and I want to go to med school cause I’m obviously gonna do well because I have the best high school stats.” Honestly, some of these so called “Overachievers” think their past will carry them throughout college. What they don’t realize is that there are more serious and dedicated students than them when they enter. Why brag when there are equal or better students out there?

And also, what’s the big deal about solving the cure to cancer which helps them go to a better college? It’d be better if they found the cure IN college so that that school can get more funding.

Oh, and also, bumpity bumps. (Wink wink)

Can we start a thread “Who are the most annoying posters on CC”?

class 2012,

no. impolite. just don’t respomd.

Apparently forums and threads I don’t even know about - lol!. My niece was shocked when she found out I was on CC. She said CC is a place that HS/college kids go to find out where the hot guy and girls are. News to me but that wouldn’t be the first time I was accused of crawling out from under a rock! …

When I was a novice I used to be the last poster on many threads and that use to annoy me.
I hate “I have $50 to spend for a hotel in Boston can you recommend something.”
Next to that is, it is July, “I just realized my FA is not enough, what should I do now.”

“I’m a high school freshman and I want to know if I do…can get me into HYPS.”

How about…what ECs should I make my 6th grader do to be competitive for college admissions?

^When they’re written by the parents…gah, 100x worse.

“I am more frugal than than thou” threads.

Threads which refer to people who make a good income as bad people who must surely have terrible values.

Ha – thou shalt not covet! It’s how socialist/Communist revolutions get started…

When kids come here to ask parents’ advice, and then reject everything we say, as if we can change their situation.

Chance threads for sure. I never read them and still occasionally I click on one by mistake, thinking it;s a real thread and there it is…the list of stats and predictable top 20 list of colleges to chance. I’m on the back button in less than a second.

I should say I hate the race threads because everyone just goes round and round saying the same things to each other but I still read them because I occasionally learn something and they are usually entertaining.

When people feel that they have to bring up NYU in a negative way when the thread has nothing to do with NYU.
No one is FORCED to apply there.

Also the class ranking threads that are all about how some child is val/sal/top ten because he/she “cheated/took only easy classes/gamed the system”.

The “I am dirt poor and got a huge chunk of need based aid- which I’ll tell you about after I meet with my stock/ investment advisor, financial planner and return from luxurious vacation” threads/posts.
