@skieurope that’s actually really funny!
I’m giggling, too.
Re: jym’s link, how do these kids find CC to complain, but can’t find the web pages of these colleges they “deserve?” Or find any advice on what top schools look for? Duh.
And why the heck are they using a state school as their safety if they have so much scorn for it?
Here’s a doozy…int’l student w/multimillionaire parents who starts off the thread asking about aid from US colleges.Looks like it’s about to be shut down, though.

^^ that poster whining about the lack of FA has only $3 million in assets. Here’s one whining with $4 million in assets:

Person who posts this:
Really?
Nah, she wants to close it, so I won’t. >:)
Threads where OP is like “this isn’t a chance, but a game” and has some of the bests stats of all of the regular HSL posters… like, really?
“I am offended because yall do’nt understand my culture!”
I m not offended even tho I m from same culture
Does this admissions cycle seem worse than past years for these kind of posts?

Wow, that is the worst and the most cringing ESSAY I EVER read in CC.
@paul2752 & @doschicos
The OP of that thread wrote he has “verbal apraxia” – a speech processing disability.
It’s the fixation on Stanford and only Stanford I find odd about that thread, that NO other college is acceptable. It’s what he’s saying more than how, although it is very long winded.
The thread @doschicos posted, hands down. I can maybe understand the fixation during the pre-app phase and while waiting for a decision, but… he’s gotta decide on somewhere else, and soon. Plus he’ll be on scholarship…
Confession: sometimes I come here just to make sure that none of my stupid threads have ended up posted.
I honestly feel badly for him. Sounds like he has received very little guidance and has issues with paying for college as well. Or he’s delusional and has chosen to ignore any valid advice he received. Either way, not a good situation.
I see the threads where people haven’t gotten in anywhere, and I just find myself at a loss for words…
I understand that it’s hard to realize that you’re not the cream of the crop when all you can compare yourself to is your HS peers. And it’s hard to have what you may have thought was a sure thing yanked out from underneath you. It’s also hard to feel like everyone else is rooting for you when they may actually be doing you a disservice in the end.
But - as a senior, you’re 18 and becoming independent and you have to learn at some point how to make the right decisions for yourself.
@doschicos I think its the latter. There are a number of students in CC that had zero guidance in applying to colleges, including me.
A lot of annoying threads about how it MUST BE this school, and this school only.
Here’s another MUST BE NYU thread:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1878194-debt-debt-and-more-debt-p1.html
Other schools will ** rob ** the OP of opportunity. Plus he’s not worried about 6-figure debt because he’s just waiting for his family to die so he can collect his inheritance.
I thought you were joking. Yikes.
Right now I am keeping my eyes on those two threads real time.
This is my least favorite thread on CC. Hey, if you dish it out, you should be able to take it.
