I’m sure lots of folks disagree, but the ones seeking schools with lots of FA for musical theater. Has MT always been so popular?
^^^I had no idea that musical theater was such a popular major until I joined CC. It seems that half the students on CC are planning on majoring in MT or investment banking.
I thought MT just needed an outlet and CC provides a supportive group. IB not so much, since kids can’t experience it until they get there, so to say.
All the “Will I get rescinded” threads. Come on kids. If you got into XYZ, you should know better!
Ok, where a poster can’t resist asterisks to add footnotes that a) could have been explained above and b) explanations that aren’t needed. You know what I mean.
The ones I find highly disturbing are the looming financial disaster threads by kids who have been apparently talked away from the ledge until, surprise, they haven’t. Allowing parents and grandparents to borrow because you’ve worked too hard to settle for a community college or a less expensive school in your own state and are too proud to make a new plan when the first is clearly unaffordable is foolish. It’s doubly annoying when the decision is based on the opinion of extended relatives (aunts, uncles, & cousins) who are pushing for the expensive school but not writing any checks to cover the costs.
Ones where a poster has no difficulty using “@” to directly respond to other posters throughout the thread, but then is unable to use one when responding to one of your posts so that you know they have a comment.

@paul2752 Do you blame them? This thread has devolved too often into a catty and childish b****fest of people rushing here to snipe at individuals behind their backs. The fact that it’s mostly adults sniping at children makes it especially embarrassing.
^Yeah…I thought this was suppose to be more general…like “I don’t like chance threads”…not specific to a particular thread or poster.
I’m generally amused and entertained by this thread, but the ones that get too specific sounds too much like talking behind people’s back.
Threads where people post things they otherwise would not, because the are passive-aggressive and can do so anonymously.
The Methadone thread (rarely posted in anymore) used to be like this one. It was easy enough to see which threads (and even which posters) the Methadone posters were writing about. The “cattiness” doesn’t really bother me. I’ve enjoyed going to the threads referenced here, as they are good for a laugh.

The purpose was to “post here and not there.” The last posts of the thread were just that (“Posting here and not there.”) But in the beginning, posters would get quite specific and nasty about posters. It was surprising!
I did find that one particularly annoying. Felt like a bunch of high school kids talking about others behind their backs and leaving them out.
But now snipers are getting sniped at?
If we want to clarify ground rules, I’m ok with that. But at times, the need to be nicey, to phrase things oh so gently, to politely tolerate misinfo, misjudgment, rambling, folks who go OT for their own reasons, plus the outright inflammatory comments, etc, does build up and make for frustration. Sorry.
Threads that ask: I didn’t meet one of the requirements on my conditional admission off to X College, will they rescind me?
