Ones where one poster hijacks a thread and then proceeds to use it as a personal blog to enlighten the rest of us on how ill informed and unenlightened we all are when we have differing viewpoints .
The thread by God’s gift to earth who is rejected by harvard and forced to go to safety school Cornell.
^ just saw that one, assuming it is fake…
The one in which the student just found out via mail that their DNA reflects 2% African American heritage and they are asking if it’s OK to check the African American box on the fall applications…despite having always identified as Asian American.
Yah, now that I think about it, it must be a fake-- who applies to only 2 schools: harvard & cornell?
@GMTplus7 Well there are certainly people who apply to only eight schools including Harvard and Cornell
That thread is ridiculous though
@GMTplus7 - another tip-off was that the poster said s/he checked the portal on April 1st. Who waits past the date the portal is updated with results?!
It is fake, as another mod has posted on the thread.
The threads that start off with helpful advice and turn into 2-3 people arguing about something that becomes completely off topic.
The threads that result in people choosing to get offended and make it personal when it didn’t need to be.
I see these in both new and old threads ( .
CHILL PILLS B-)
Freshmen who post chance me threads with lofty predicted scores and GPAs
The ‘which of my designer handbags which match my designer shoes do I take on my trip to Paris’ threads.
Threads where posters use as their personal blog. At some point, enough is enough of your personal/family problems.
More sad than annoying are the waitlist threads that are still going…and going…and going… These poor kids.
^^agree on the waitlist threads.
Threads where posters assume that standardized test scores = intelligence (or knowledge, dedication, self-worth, etc.)
Ones where posters revel in schadenfreude over misguided ambitions and financial missteps, with things like “famous last words” which is neither clever nor helpful.
Ones where posters claim that their opinions are correct and can be stated but any opinions about their tone and treatment of others in that process are “threadjacking”.
Ones that are clearly bitter about those lucky few who were fortunate to be born impoverished URMs from uneducated parents who somehow managed to excel and get a “free ride” to a prestigious college. They are the same people who complain that handicapped parking spots are empty, I guess.
and so many more…
those who act condescendingly to experienced ones. I wish Voldemort were real and get those brats.
Threads where posters espouse the idea that the First Amendment negates the principle of separation of Church and State.
Any thread where some giggling kid out there starts a controversial thread for the sole purpose of watching how many senior members will swoop in, give advice, then start arguing with each other over the advice. Happens all the time in my opinion.
Threads where posters who try to act superior by using words that will require 99% of CC’ers to look up their meaning.
