Threads where people take pride in their ignorance.
Parent threads where the most frequent poster is a high schooler…don’t you have your own class thread? Please stop looking for validation on the parent thread.
I get riled up by questions like, “I really, really messed up my freshman year GPA but did better after that, can I still get into a 4-year school?” And then when someone asks what the dreadful freshman year GPA was, the OP whimpers, “3.7, poor me!” I can’t tell if perceptions are warped or if those are humblebrags.
Threads by families who have committed as fullpay to an OOS public university, who are just asking now in late-May how to pay the hefty tuition or how to get state residency status.
Ones where you answer one or two questions for the OP regarding the college application process which are easily found in the schools’ websites, and then they begin to treat you like their personal college counselor despite multiple attempts to redirect him how to locate the info independently.
Yet another thread asking “are these good ECs”?
The ones where one CC’er must have a notifier whenever a certain college is mentioned, no matter the category! They simply must attack or defend it!!!
Ones where poster doesn’t understand how awesome Hunter boots are.
Old threads bumped up by one-post, one-visit posters who seem to have one goal in mind - to bump up some old thread.
Most annoying threads? All of them
The threads where the thread valedictorians do “thread spread” and try to control the threads that are in any way related to the threads they already attempt to police.
Threads decrying the fact that there are liberals in the academy.
Actually, that’s not so bad. The only ones that get bumped up to Annoying Level are the ones that then advocate hiring preferences for conservatives, without noting that that would (simply coincidentally, I’m sure!) help the poster down the line.
The ones in which people think they’re making some kind of point by deriding long-time posters because they have so many posts or have been active for so many years, regardless of the substance of their responses.
The one by an antivaxxer whose S is going to college. Infuriating plus dangerous to the point of being deadly.
I can’t even.
The threads where it is well beyond May 1, yet the poster has double-deposited and is seeking advice regarding which school to REALLY enroll in. When I point out how wrong their actions are, the excuses pour in, as the rules clearly do not apply to the
The parent rant threads where I have trouble following the details of their grievance because of the deafening WHUMP WHUMP WHUMP WHUMP of rotor blades…
Ones where someone ( not the OP) consistently attempts to be the " gatekeeper" of the thread and direct the flow of the thread including bumping the thread when it has run its course.
People who start the identical thread in a half dozen different subforums.
One’s where extremely young posters state emphatically their opinions on subjects that they have limited , if any experience, not gathered from a Google search.
Ones where people type AP class names in all caps:
“I’ve taken AP BIOLOGY, AP POOR FORMATTING, and AP INTERNET YELLING”
