Chance me posts where students post about how great their essays are when they aren’t even good.
Seeing every chances thread list their essay as “fantastic” or “probably really good” gets a little old.
Cheating threads make me uncomfortable.
I mean- Friend, why? Why’d you do that? You don’t seem to have learned anything, or even get why it’s wrong.
Do you think CC is a confession booth?
@OMPursuit What’s even worse is when some responders try to find a loophole to explain away the cheating, especially when it comes to embellishing or padding ECs.
College students giving advice about what parents should do.
Looks like some are living in the past and bringing up old things that aren’t current. Talk about old. Gotta keep up.
Any post where the 16/17 y/o thinks that nobody in the entire universe, including experienced AO’s, have ever thought of this loophole before hime/her.
OK, I finally did it! There was a new “Chance Me, I’ll Chance You Back” thread opened. I posted: “How can you chance someone if you need to be chanced back!”
If you see me in jail, then don’t try it yourself.
I’ll work on googling a recipe for a virtual cake with a virtual file in it posthaste, @TomSrOfBoston.
I’m still frankly boggled by the whole jail concept. The first time I saw the bars I thought people were adopting something as a sign of solidarity (like turning your avatar the colors of the french flag). It appears to be unique to this website, although, to be fair, I don’t frequent a lot of forums. Just one disney forum, this one, and a liveaboard boat forum. It’s a tossup who has the most crazies.
Moderator’s Note: Keep the discussion civil. Veiled snarky responses are not appropriate on this or any other thread.
Thanks
The “chance me” threads where a young HSer gives not-very-good advice (to be polite) but says that they spend most of their time researching colleges so their opinion shouldn’t be discounted.
Edited to make less specific

Gads, there are some parents who claim to spend so much time on research, then get it wrong, too. Someone calls then on it, then they say they agree. Weird.
The threads that I start to follow, but when I come back to them a short while later, there are 100+ new posts.
^And then someone gets upset that a moderator didn’t notice a slight insult in post #274, ha! If we had 100 moderators, we wouldn’t have time to read all the posts!
Posts with links…but NO explanation of the content of the link.
furthering what overtheedge said - threads I’ve been reading where I miss several hours and then come back on to find a stern post from a moderator reminding posters to be nice and mentioning that several posts have been removed, and I’ve apparently missed - yet again- all the fun…
^^^ I thought I was the only one who was bummed to miss the ugly posts that get deleted.
Parents who want their dear child to pursue the performing arts at a premier program but then expect them to double major in another demanding major.
When the OP never comes back or gives an update after a group of users helped them figure out some educational problems.
