Our last full day in Tokyo. If H feels up to it, we may go see an immersive art exhibit and shop, otherwise just relax in our lovely hotel in Tokyo.
I only work a half day on Friday so I need to run some errands this afternoon. Also getting my hair cut and highlighted later today so I will be ready for summer. Maybe we will take some wine and cheese and watch the sunset by the beach later. Tomorrow I am going to a bookfair put on by one of my favorite independent bookstores.
Today was my first day to drive since my knee surgery. I went to PT and drive thru windows for the bank & Walgreens. No nap this morning and PT didn’t make me want to cry. It’s lovely to begin feeling better. I’m watching the Netflix documentary about Rafa this afternoon so I can finish the series before the next tennis doc, this one about Chrissie & Martina, drops later this month. I do love my summer tennis viewing.
Very easy day today. Got up and worked out. Then since I had a long workday yesterday, I stayed home until after lunch. All I accomplished was a nap, read, practiced piano and Duolingo. My afternoon was very very slow and uneventful. Soon I will head home and read some more. I don’t feel like walking in the heat. Then waffles for dinner and a Target run.
Got my hair colored and cut, always anticipated lol. It was a rainy day so didn’t get out for a walk. Which I usually do almost everyday.
Went to the bowling alley for lunch. It’s a bowling alley with a bar side, we sat on the bar side. Our waitress told us what a success their Mother’s Day buffet was. Over 250 people ate. They are doing a special menu for Father’s Day, she asked the cook! Maybe I can talk my husband into doing that!
Since I could not find either the World Cup or the bragging thread. My daughter is volunteering for the World Cup. Today they let her go on the pitch. She sent us a proud picture of her in her volunteer uniform on the pitch! She looked very happy!
Since it’s still raining, we are going to the store and getting gas. Our very exciting Friday night. We could have met our friends at our neighborhood restaurant for Friday fish fry, it’s the golf course restaurant and we’ve been there plenty this week. Besides my husband is hard of hearing, he can’t hear so it’s not that fun for us.
We packed up this morning and came down the coast. A week here; should be nice when it’s not raining. The place we’re parked is right across the highway from the ocean. There’s a beautiful view out the back window.
Reading a book, enjoying the WiFi, sipping on a G&T. Life is good.
We woke, repacked all our bags, enjoyed the hotel buffet and served breakfast and are waiting for our airport limo bus to take us to Narita airport where we have 5 hours to shop & relax in lounge before flying home (business class) to HI. H can’t wait!
I finally repacked to make it as easy as possible for security. I packed all my clothing and secured it along either side of my suitcase. I put my medical machine in one featherweight backpack. I put all the cords for my medical equipment in the other featherweight backpack and zipped both packs up and put them into separate bins the center of the suitcase. Now when We get to security, I just unzip & pull out the 2 backpacks, put them into bins, pull out my waist pack with batteries & mesh bag with cords and put it into a a bin and done!
Sounds like you had a great trip
@HImom !
Yes, we had a lovely trip but H really wants to go home. He’s been a good sport and we had a great time with longtime friends but there’s no place like home!
Just finished watering dh’s vegetable garden. Taking our dog for a quick walk then getting ready for work.
After work, coming home to get our dog, finish throwing a few things together in a weekend bag then driving down to the beach. It’s a two hour drive so I’ll make a good dent in my audiobook as it’s super long!
Grocery shopping for both appetizers for an event tonight, and all the ingredients for lasagna for tomorrow.
And I have to order a couple of decorated cakes for an event two weeks from today.
It’s cloudy with a chance of rain today. Good day to get these errands done.
Big market stock up today ahead of hosting family for a graduation and then cooking a bunch of stuff to freeze so we can grab and bake. Hoping for a long walk at some point today as well.
Feel like my day is half over. Got up early and did my run. It was much harder as it’s getting warmer. Now I’m almost done with the vacuuming. We will see how much more I get done before we go out of town tomorrow. I plan on a nap after lunch but before we see the new He-Man movie at 3:15. I am looking forward to that. I did love it as a kid even though I was a bit old for it - I had a younger brother who was very much into it.
And I’m not sure where to put this, but something I didn’t even know was possible - and I’m the one who designs these things… while driving to target yesterday, a traffic signal was completely screwed up. The light was flashing - but on the main thoroughfare the light was flashing red and yellow at the same time. The red and yellow lights were on together on each signal head. Worse, on the cross street - theirs were flashing green and red at the same time. I thought - and had been told - that the signals had a safety mechanism where that couldn’t happen. I did call the emergency police number who said someone had called it in and was getting it taken take of. Of course technically the one who takes care of it is in my division, but I don’t have any of those numbers available in my personal cell.
It has been a quiet week here as I’ve had either a cold or some kind of respiratory thing going on, which has made it even more difficult to sleep. I did manage to finish two books - “Dogs, Boys and Other Things I’ve Cried About” and “Strangers”. Mr. Sabaray has managed to step up a bit. A bit. Hoping this crud passes soon.
I’m trying to get ready to leave for a camping trip tomorrow. The power company isn’t making it easy. Our power went out early this morning. I need to do laundry, and precook some food. I’m hoping it gets back on soon.
I also need to return a library book and pick up a hold.
My husband wants to spend the afternoon in the marina. I’m hoping the sun comes out.
I could not fall asleep last night. And that never happens to me. We went to an outdoor concert performed by all the music groups in our local HS and sat with many friends; also the group in front of us kept moving, making noise, attending to a two-year-old, and doing all sorts of other annoying things. So when we got home, I was overstimulated, like a three-year-old. Stayed awake until 3:00 AM!
Maybe I need to get out of the habit of taking naps so I sleep better at night.
This morning, I met my breakfast ladies; now I’m waiting for my friend to come for lunch. We’re going to the beach to eat. Then I’ll take the dog to the woods and make dinner.
Exercised and walked the dog. Had some breakfast and cleaned the pool. Went to the farmer’s market in the rain! Bought some beautiful radishes and some sourdough and having a radish sandwich with balsamic, butter, salt, arugula. Floated in the pool for 45 mins. Swam a few laps. Pulled some weeds. Using my little Bissell wet vac to clean a small upholstered settee (?) that my daughter gave me and I’ll use in a spare bedroom. Bought some spare ribs from the pork farmer at the market and browned them and have them slow cooking for dinner as is, or shredding for shredded pork for dinner. A house across the river seems to be having a party and they usually had a live band a couple times a summer - today seems to be one of those times and they play easy listening/familiar pop and it’s very pleasant to be outside!!!
Sitting on my porch swing sipping a warm beverage and enjoying the cool, pre-rain scent of an overcast day in the woods. DH is out buying lumber to start the final project on the cabin’s lower level, so I have the woods and wildlife to myself for a few hours. DS got some good news this afternoon that I’ll probably post on the bragging thread in a few days. All is well in my green world right now.
Very boring day but did talk with a friend that I haven’t seen in a while and we’re meeting tomorrow so yay.
Otherwise, I’m thinking about getting another miniature house kit - it’s been almost three years since the last one and I’m feeling crafty. Husband says, don’t get it until you know where you’ll put it. I said that was the least of my problems and if necessary, I’ll throw out the oldest one. This from the man who keeps old newspapers in bags because there may an article he wants to read, and keeps decades of old financial papers in case he ever wants to see where we went for dinner 40 years ago or whatever.
I think this house would be fun to make.
Yay—we are home again! We had a long day because we had a taxi & then an air train to the airport and then a long wait for our red-eye flight.
We were surprised to find birds in our yard and a duck plus baby ducklings in hedge in our front yard! They’re cute but neighbor cats do prowl our yard too.
It’s great to be home!
