What are you doing today?

What part of the country are you in? We arrive back in the US late Thursday night and hope to be awake enough to try to shop Friday. Challenge is people will already have done most of the shopping and there’s shelves may be bare. We’ve been gone for a long time and our house is pretty devoid of food.

The usual, plus lunch with four neighborhood friends at a new place. Now sitting down to watch a new show wihth dh.

Picked up my four 90 day prescriptions at Walgreens. It’s under Medicare Part D; I’ve always done my plan’s mail order in the past. But Express Scripts has gotten less and less express, so I thought I would try this instead, even though my expensive brand name drug is a few dollars more. It would have taken probably another week if I’d gone with Express Scripts.

Then, because it was on the way home, I popped into Trader Joe’s. I didn’t really need anything but why let that stop me! Worst problem in the parking lot was the one woman going the wrong way in the one way circle lot.

Southern Va. it wouldn’t surprise me if shelves aren’t restocked by Friday. And now it’s not supposed to start here until Saturday evening.

I put in an order to have some basics delivered from Whole Foods to arrive Friday since we are just returning late Thursday night and I may be too tired to shop and there may not be much left anyway.

Spending as much time with my little fluff as possible. We are likely saying our last goodbye tomorrow morning with the hospice vet. :broken_heart:

DH and his buddies are going to the Barrett Jackson car show today giving me a whole day to myself! I’m sure there is something here that needs (better) organizing…

@momofboiler1 - I am sending all of my support. One of the most difficult decisions any pet family has to make.

That Barrett Jackson car show is my husband’s dream! Everytime that auto auction is on….I guess I should be grateful his car acquisitions are limited to Hot Wheels!

Today - getting ready for the snow. I am right up the valley from @ClassicMom98 and we’ve heard everything from two feet to now 8 to 10 inches followed by freezing rain. I’ll take the snow anyday. We are pretty well stocked for the weather.

This afternoon, meeting with our financial advisor. See what her crystal ball is telling her. HA!

I got lazy after work yesterday and didn’t get to the store, partially b/c I didn’t want to deal with traffic. Kept hearing how crowded the stores were plus I’d be going opposite direction from home.

Working again today but decided to run to Sam’s before work. Parking lot was already packed at 9am but not too bad inside. I use Scan and Go so I was in/out in 10 mins. Got gallons of water, a few snacks for my sons and beef to make roast beef on Sunday. Fortunately we have a large fridge at work so I just stuck in there.

H flies home from upstate NY in a few hours. It’s snowing there so hopefully he doesn’t get delayed.

Got a nice text with photo from D20 who is studying abroad in Rome. She is taking a food and wine class and sent a picture of the wine they were drinking/learning about in class. Quite a bit different than the Italian culture class they offered when I was there 35+ years ago!

Beautiful “warm” day here in the 50s and sunny. Big difference from what lies ahead!!

Yeah, DH had better come home in the same vehicle he left in.

Look Ma, no cavities!

Successful dentist cleaning and checkup. I am finally stable; used to be every visit seemed to find one more cavity.

My husband enjoys watching car auctions. I sometimes joined him to watch during the duldrums of Covid, but my standard joke is that I find it about as exciting as watching paint dry.

Started off the morning watching a webinar and doing some exercises while watching. It was an efficient way to get both things done at the same time. Grabbed a handful of nuts before heading out the door as a LIGHT breakfast.

Went to dermatologist (relative) to have him look at my wart (which actually he says may NOT be a wart but just a hardened part of my skin but not matching part on any other part of my skin). Anyway, he “froze” it and we will see if anything happens. He also approved the ointment that the APRN prescribed for eczema in my ears. It is non-steroidal and safe to use multiple times/day as desired vs the topical steroid treatments that have to be stopped periodically.

It was a nice visit and I was in and out in under 1 hour, so free parking. I then drove to Chinatown to buy some green vegetables and dried items that H and D have been wanting—dried fruit (loongon) and dried gogi berries. While there, I bought Gau (Chinese mochi pudding for Chinese New Year), Gailan (Chinese broccoli), and green onions.

I parked at a meter that didn’t register the coin I put into it and had no reading at all, so put a small slip of paper where you would insert the coin that said that the meter wasn’t registering coins put into it, so only paid the $.25 to try to feed the meter! I got a nice walk around Chinatown trying to get the items I wanted, and then drove home. When I got home, I talked to the pest control person who sprayed the perimeter of the house and brushed the eaves of the carport and house, plus he gave me two pest traps to use for the inside of S’s bedroom closet, where I had seen some ants.

Listened to the kids get off to school, then got up. Had coffee then headed to Einstein’s Bagels to take advantage of their Big Snow sale and got 2 dozen bagels for $9/dozen. (One dozen for our household; one for D to take into the ER tonight/tomorrow.) Watched the new episode of Star Trek Academy (jury is out on it. Too much like Star Trek 90210 for my taste.) Made pizza dough for tonight’s dinner. Then went grocery shopping. The grocery store was insane. No parking spaces except at the very far end of the lot. Every shopping cart was in use. Got most of the stuff on the shopping list, but several things were sold out. (Frozen mixed vegetables. Roasted & salted cashews. Granola bars. ) Everyone, both store workers and fellow shoppers, were patient and polite about the long checkout lines and crowds. People were quite pleasant, wishing each other a safe weekend.

Made pizza and salad for dinner. SIL is out at a business dinner meeting and D works tonight. She has an early report time tonight–8pm–so I’ll be putting the grands to bed in about 90 minutes. (Wish me luck. They have me outnumbered 3 to 1.) Once I get the hooligans to bed, I’ll watch the new episode of The Pitt and snuggle with cats.

Barrett-Jackson is on my husband’s bucket list. We watch it every year and enjoy seeing how the popular cars have changed over the years; people always want their teen dream car.
