Dropped off a return at Whole Foods. Initially website didn’t show return was made. Turned around and went back into store and clerk re-scanned upc and said it had already been scanned. Finally the app showed it had been dropped off for return. At least at UPS you get something to hold in your hand that shows you returned SOMETHING— with Whole Foods, no piece of paper—you have to trust the system and wait for it to show up at some point.
While picking up the thai takeout, walked to nearby restaurant for a chinese duck (new mom’s favorite) to add to lunch. It turned out we had lots of food for everyone, with more for snacking on or another meal.
Needed paper towels so went to the grocery store. Realized I had a $7 coupon that expired today, so checked other coupons and thought I’d stock up on cleaning supplies. Of course it rang up to$125, then down to $110 after store deals, then $89 after other coupons. Lots of cleaning stuff and paper products, and a tiny bit of food.
I can clean and blow my nose, but not much to eat this week. And I saved that $7!
Sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine. Did a bit of yard cleanup and discussed with my husband ideas for landscaping our front yard area. I also organized my baking supplies.
My husband played beach volleyball and took an ocean swim.
H and I drove 1.5 hours to visit my mom and take her to lunch. After lunch we sat outside and visited with my mom, my brother and SIL. It was 80 degrees at my mom’s today.
Talked to my mom about her meds and how yes, they will eventually show up but the new prescription provider at the AL has kinks to work out. No, she will not be in trouble for not applying the chemo cream to the newly excised spots. Shhhhhh, it’s gonna be fine.
Did laundry. Volunteered. Had a fellow volunteer bravely mention that she “supports ICE 100% just so all of you know” because I am packing for our trip to see our kids in Minneapolis so people had thoughts about the cities, NOT supportive of ICE even 10%. Lol.
Trying to fit everything into my backpack so I just need one underseat bag. Cleaning, because I like to come back to a tidy house. It’s a heat wave today, it’s nearly 25 outside!! Watching the news to see if our flight will get cancelled…
Brave woman. And I didn’t realize that we both have kids there!
The freezing weather is done for now, so dh and I spent some time moving plants out and around, washing sheets that were covering the plants, cleaning up the dining room where they were all staying warm. Good little workout.
Then cooked veggies for dinner and did about half my official workout before lunch. I’ll get back to it later. Dh is at work until 6 so I feel like I should take advantage of all this alone time. I have no idea what that means.
My husband is out of his medication that he (we) have been wrestling with the specialty pharmacy for 4 weeks now. After a call to his doctor and hours on hold with the speciality pharmacy, found out that the doctor did not specify which generic medication but any of the generic formulations. More calls to the doctor to get the correct very specific formula to be faxed into the speciality pharmacy. More calls to ensue tomorrow.
Didn’t work out because I wanted to be available for any thing that needed to be clarified. It was funny to see my unflappable husband, not!!!
As this was ongoing, my mom called very upset that my sister suggested that she might need to go to assisted living. I had to tell her that I can’t manage things from 300 miles away and my sibling has gone to Florida for the winter. Mom can decide that she can do things on her own or she can’t. I suggested that she hire someone to check on her once a week and make sure things are going smoothly. We will see, I’ll be there in 2 weeks to check on what’s going on.
Cancelled my plans to play mahjong, took my husband out for much needed ice cream. We earned that today!
Today I am showing my husband that I already thought of most of the stuff about our trip on which he now has questions. Yes, I printed out the trip insurance and visas. And here’s the web site about the train ride with the cafe menu and pictures of the open air carriages. And here’s when the train leaves and arrives and how much further the bus ride will be to our next destination.
Good thing Globus planned most of this for us!
I also tracked down the free monthly Amazon Prime books I never bothered reading and loaded them on my Kindle.
Also asked the neighbors if we can leave them a key in case of emergencies. We shouldn’t need anything done but always good to have someone who can get in if necessary.
I almost msg’d you after your specialty pharmacy post on the Say It Here thread. I deal with one quarterly, and almost each time it’s like reinventing the wheel. It’s one of the most stressful things I deal with regularly as I will be charged $33k if any one piece breaks down. Dh and I make this call/calls together now so he can type copious notes should someone try to question us. Maddening.
I met with the family therapist today. DH was supposed to be on the Zoom call, but his appointment to plan cataract surgery ran longer than expected. It was actually nice to just chat with the woman and give her some more background. She also helped me finalize the letter we will be sending our son. Then I wrote out a very large check to mail the therapist, for four counseling sessions plus time for her to review the letter. The next step will be to see if Son wants to meet jointly with us and the therapist.
I’m not doing anything today. After spending such a nice day with D on Saturday and then having dinner at her house with her, the grands and SIL’s parents she texted me last night telling me she and her FIL both had stomach issues.
Sure enough, I woke up at midnight and…
Haven’t had anything to eat/ drink all day as I’m afraid it won’t stay down. I also have a headache, chills and body aches.
No fun!
I have no idea how this will work once i’m on Medicare as I hear that I can no longer qualify for copay assistance. Do I have to find another med? Do without? I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.
I hope you feel better soon! Being sick is no fun.
I didn’t sleep well last night, but got up and took care of the girls, then went to the gym. Made plans with a friend to have lunch on Wednesday, then ran out to the recyling center and fed and walked the girls. Clearly the girls have me well trained! It is finally starting to warm up at least.
Apparently my husband’s VERY expensive blood clotting med that he needs before any type of surgery (well over $20,000/dose) is not covered under Medicare. I’m trying not to think about it.
I don’t know, though. Maybe that information is incorrect? I guess I should look into it.
Adding another to-do to your list isn’t fun, but you should start on this one right away. You’ll need to find out if it’s a med that “would be” covered under Part B or Part D and go from there. If it’s Part B and not covered, you’ll want to find out if there’s an appeal process. If it’s a Part D med, then you’ll need to see if it’s on the formulary for his plan. If not, and if there’s no equivalent med on the formulary that works for him, want to start an appeal as soon as possible. It’s possible that it won’t be covered, but if it isn’t, there may be ways to get it covered … ask, Google, call the drug manufacturer, etc.
Our neighbors go to Canada for four weeks every summer. I have their key. One year they called me after four hours on the road to say . . . “I thought he took out the garbage, and he thought I took out the garbage. Can you please go into our house and take out the garbage?”
