Yesterday (Friday) I puttered around in the AM – folded laundry, tidied up the kitchen – and then, with DH, went to pick up my 89-year-old post-shoulder-replacement friend to go to lunch. It turns out she got her days mixed up and DH and I arrived at the same time another friend did, also to take her to lunch. So friend and I agreed we’d have lunch today.
So DH and I went out to lunch by ourselves.
Last night was not good. I had the world’s longest supension bridge (10 teeth) permanently placed on Wednesday and I am having pain on one side. (I was having pain before, with the temporary, but after several months of my wearing it, my dentist thought we should proceed anyway.) Also, and this really worries me, part of my face on that side is numb. I just emailed my dentist this morning. But I’m scared that the only way to resolve this is to drill into my absurdly expensive new bridge.

Will go to a granite yard today. I’m suppose to order from the company’s store, but just not satisfied. Monday the floors get started. Haven’t begun looking at furniture. All cuz of a water leak.

Wow. “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” springs to mind.

@bookworm I hope this setback provides you with a wonderful opportunity to create a lovely new space to enjoy that erases all the pain it takes to get there. Please show us the “after” pics when you get there.

Took a walk in the sunshine for the first time in what feels like forever.

Yesterday H came with me to the Y to check the place out. His Medicare supplement covers a bunch of gyms, and he’s finally decided to join. He has an issue with excessive perspiration, so he wants to feel comfortable in the setting as well as among the other gym-goers. He decided to join on Monday! Yay!
Our trip to the winery tasting room earlier in the week didn’t pan out, so we tried again, successfully this time. Tasted a bunch, picked up our earlier order, and bought two more bottles. On to a winery we used to belong to for another tasting and a charcuterie plate. A couple more bottles of our favorites. A vow to drink the good stuff we have stored a bit more often, haha.
We’re taking the kids out to dinner tonight, to what I call the meat palace as it is just about all red meat. Looking forward to having everyone together.

We are also out and about wine tasting in the ‘Ville!
The sun is out… we are sitting outside - who needs a propane heater when the natural one is shining bright?!

We were out and about too! We went to the big city and to the Science Center. Now H is going into one of his stores while I sit. Then to Costco and dinner. H and I agreed we need grandchildren so we don’t look like creepy old people (kidding)

Busy day! Went to Costco, stopped by a bath reno showroom and scheduled an appointment for them to come out and give us a quote, went wine tasting and had pizza lunch on the way back, stopped at TJ to buy stuff for little kid, then loaded little kid’s 20 year old electronic piano into the truck and drove it to the kids’ place. Hope SIL puts it to a good use! Loaded a bunch of old fencing and other crap kids wanted to dispose of into the truck to take to the dump tomorrow… I played with the littlest grandkid while the men handed the loading. Stopped at HD to buy some electrical stuff and walked out with a couple of spring flower baskets. Now finally sitting on the deck, drinking leftover wine…

I don’t think we will be seeing spring flower baskets here before May!
Went to my meeting, and it was OK.
Had a nice long chat and catch up (for many years) with one of my college roommates. That was fun.

Today included all the usual stuff plus a trip to the credit union, which is relocating in six weeks. Thankfully, the new locale is about the same distance from me, just south instead of north. While I was out, I picked up a yummy chicken sandwich for a late lunch to eat during the UT men’s bball game (we won). Did a bunch of financial things online while watching UT softball (we won) and now watching UT baseball (we are winning) while listening to ds2 on the radio, my favorite Saturday night activity. Will try to stay awake for the new SNL even though I didn’t watch Heated Rivalry and have no idea who this guy is. At least I know Mumford and Sons!
Also, talked to a Realtor friend who we contacted last week when we were considering selling the house. We let her know that I lied down and the feeling passed.
She gave us some things to think about. I will probably relent and pay stupid money to get rid of our popcorn ceilings, which don’t bother me at all but apparently are horrible to some, including my DIL!

Spent a few hours at our community Lunar New Years celebration. My friends and I did a Mahjong demonstration and I was pleased by how many people were interested! I was pleasantly surprised that some of the people most interested were men. I pointed out the social aspects of the game as well as how it helps with thinking and brain activity.
D, GD, GS and grandbeagle came over after I got home ( SIL was at a soccer game). We hung out and played for awhile then ordered pizza.
Overall fun day.

We saw that but got our gelato at the place on the mall. (We also got gelato at Bondi Beach.)

Yesterday was a mostly bummer tour of the Blue Mountains since they were socked in for much of the day and it rained on and off. He decided to extend one hike down into a rain forest to the end, involving slippery treacherous steps. I turned back partway down and my husband said I made the right choice. We did see wild kangaroos boxing, so that was exciting. The van was so squished seating that I woke with leg cramps during the night since we were driving around for six of the ten hours.
Today was way better - we took the ferry to Manly and the weather cleared and we had a mostly sunny day. We walked along the shore, barefoot in the water for a few minutes, had lunch beachfront, stopped for gelato, and ferried back midafternoon. We visited Custom House and part of the Royal Botanical Garden on the way back to the hotel.
I’ve come down with a little cold but forged through, today 5.5 miles. The fitness app on my phone, which I do nothing with, has gotten very excited about my increased activity over the last few weeks.

Yesterday the dog and I did our very long walk in the woods. I was not as zippy as usual, since my new bridge is still bothering me. But we made it. I watched the last episode of Call the MIdwife on Netflix last night. Now I have to figure out how I can watch the latest season on PBS.
My world’s-longest-suspension-bridge has continued to bother me greatly. I called my dentist late yesterday afternoon on the emergency line, and he thinks I have an infection, so I’ve started on amoxicillin 4 X a day. Just took my third dose an hour ago. I am still having some pain and my chin is still numb – apparently there’s a nerve there, called the mental foramen – which might be compromised if there is swelling. The dentist had his favorite endodontist call me last night also, and she’s going to call me this AM to check in. Either the antibiotic will fix this or I’ll need a root canal. Fingers crossed.
Today I will go to the gym, change the bed, do some laundry, and read. A very very quiet day.

Tonight is the monthly dinner for members at the Artisans Guild. I’ll be going to that. Other than that, it will be a slow day. I need to take my new insurance card to the CVS in Target…woohoo!
It’s chillier today, so probably no more melting snow today. But some did melt yesterday. Frankly, I’ll be happy to see it all gone!

Prepping to have our new next-door neighbors over for cocktails and tacos tonight. They moved into the house formerly occupied by my invalid vet neighbor who died in a care home just before Christmas. They’ve been so busy gutting the house, we haven’t been able to catch them other than to say a brief “hi” here and there, but they seem like people we want to know.
So, lots to do before they arrive at 5.

We started the morning with a tour of the Opera House and a walk along the quay. Then light rail back to the hotel and a lovely lunch at a brasserie across the street. A quick run for some chocolate, Uber to the airport, and wait wait wait.
Note the difference between the duty free shopping arcade and our waiting area.
This is same size plane as we are flying.
