What are you doing today?

Glad that the airline was proactive so that you can change your plans and spend a couple of days in sunny California with your sister.

I’m sorry your D didn’t answer your text. I think you definitely should say something. Happy that your son reached out right away and offered to help.

I found a bra and silver shoes!!

The woman at the lingerie shop was very helpful but also very serious. She brought so many possibilities. When I tried on the last one, I asked, “Do you think this is it?” and she said yes. “OK, then, I’ll say yes to the bra!” Ha, I made her laugh…

I’ve lost a couple more pounds since the dress came, and I’m very happy with how it looks on me.

I found the shoes at literally the very last shoe store I could think of. Yay!!

Thanks so much! The ophthalmologist identified them during my exam; apparently there are some missing lashes. My only noticeable symptom is dry eyes and perhaps morning crustiness. She said the condition affected oil which makes for a thinner film so more dryness.

She also suggested Miebo for the dryness. It’s interesting that my former sadly gone doctor never mentioned concerns. He was quite focused on retinal health, as am I.

I seldom wear eye makeup so don’t think that’s an issue.

I’m glad your son hopped on it and got your changes arranged. And honestly, weather in the Midwest is kind of crappy for a few days so if you can spare the days enjoy them.

Communicating with family is both a safety step and a courteous step. You deserve the same from family.

OK, maybe it’s because I have sons, but I wouldn’t expect a response to a text about a rescheduled flight although it would be nice. And if either ds jumped in and offered to rebook a flight for me I might pass out right there!

Some doctors feel that they have to fix everything. There are a few outliers that should be treated regardless of symptoms, but in general, the things that need fixing are the things that bother you. Neither of those meds are cheap, so the treatment might be worse than the disease.

There’s also eyelid scrub that’s sold over-the-counter at pharmacies that can help eliminate or reduce crustiness on eyelids. It’s fairly reasonably-priced.

I doesn’t impact demodex folliculorum per se, but it will debulk the gunk some. Those OTC wipes and foamy scrubs are much more effective for staph blepharitis.

Wow—never heard of mites in eyes before. Yikes!

I gather everyone has mini mites, but normally harmless. It does sound icky. Maybe this should go in What I Learned Today!

I think it depends what your families habits and history are with communication. I don’t think it’s unusual at all to share with your kids - even if they are established adults - to let them know you aren’t returning home when originally planned and in fact will be in an entirely unexpected location.

It’s a crazy world out there. Nothing wrong with keeping tabs on each other.

Oh, I would totally share that. I’m saying that I wouldn’t expect much of a response from either kid.

Me either (and I have girls!) but whoa be the mother who doesn’t check in when the children think she should have. I went to Mexico the day after the Puerto Vallarta attacks 3 weeks ago. I went to Cancun and was never out of phone coverage. The night I returned I get a text from DD2 “Are you alive?!?” She’d talked to my brother and he somehow decided I was in danger and told her and then she decided I should have been contacting her more often.

All my fault.

I wasn’t expecting a big response but an indication that she had seen the text would be nice. Also, I now live alone and I think a child who lives less than 15 minutes from me needs to be aware that my travel plans have changed when I am in another country and a blizzard is on its way.

Oh, I agree! Maybe she saw your son was on it so she slacked.

I’m sorry she wasn’t responsive.

Great shoes!

We are going to NYC today for the day. It’s going to be great. Leaving here about 8:30. Biggest challenge is figuring out what to wear!

Today is Pi Day and I’m going to a Pi Day event for a group I belong to. Getting there early to help set up, and bringing my ice box cake. (I took liberties – it’s not technically a pie, but too bad.) This is a group of people I generally enjoy so I’m looking forward.

After that, home to take the dog on our long long walk in the woods; then I’ll hang out with the peeps (and dogs) I know from there.

Not sure yet what I’ll make for dinner.

Made progress on all three of my “projects” and bored brother for an hour when he called to ask about our trip.

I drafted a notice for the synagogue bulletin about the new business directory spreadsheet they asked me to manage but decided it would be best to wait until after Shabbas to send it to the synagogue president.

Found some additional apartment options for son at lower costs than his exorbitant rent hike. He’s says he’s putting them into “an overview format” so we can go over them.

And started reviewing and editing trip photos with one of the smallest group of photos of one waterfall. Tiny steps.

Edit to add I started reading the CC Book Club book.

Just swinging back to say…it was a great day. Nothing better than visiting a good friend, having a great lunch, and being able to sit outside at a park because the weather was gorgeous and sunny!

Finished taxes and filed and already accepted fed and state. That took longer than it should have. Ate takeout and am going to chill for the rest of the weekend.
