What are you doing today?

See. And this is why you CAN’T leave this thread!!! Who would make me laugh like that?

I wish my morning was boring. I skipped the gym/workout because my HR was running about bpm higher than usual. Not that 60ish is bad, but it’s high for me, so I figure I probably ought to take off one day/week. But of course, I’m still wide awake at 4am. Got up and kept H company before work. Shortly before he left I was stretching and saw something on the carpet. “Crap. A cat barfed under the radiator.” I go to clean it in… ■■■ is THAT? Take a pic and send to chatGPT. I’ve got mushrooms - and not the good kind - growing on my carpet. OMG. Really? I’m assuming we have a radiator leak. I’m sooo done owning a house. I want someone else to take care of everything for me.

At work I had another consultant interview. Thank god this one was awesome. I was so in a tizzy trying to call places to get rid of my shrooms, I was almost late. Ugh. Anyhow, the group was awesome and the boiler guy is coming to look at the radiator this afternoon. Then I had the fun task of going to the credit union across town - just to change my email address. They won’t let you do it online. I have almost everything tied my gmail account, but I have a few random places tied to my work email, which isn’t good and proper…

I hope my afternoon and evening are DULL AND BORING!

Dull and boring here.

I washed the sheets that we keep on the family room furniture. (Yes, we have a dog.) They were really filthy. I have crib sheets for two chairs and a queen sheet for the couch, if anyone cares.

I made banana bread with two really, really old bananas. Whenever we buy bananas, one of two things happens. (1) We eat them all within a few days. (2) We totally ignore them all and they all turn black. There’s no happy medium, like eating most of them but the last one or two go black. It’s all or nothing.

DH and I will continue assembling outdoor furniture in a little while.

And then I’ll take the dog to the woods for our long walk.

Leftovers tonight.

ETA: I love dull and boring.

I’ve been reading daily but not sharing for fear of being too boring too but I’m enjoying reading everyone else’s day so here goes:
Texted with my H first thing as he got stuck out of town yesterday because of our storms. He was rebooked on a morning flight and it got cancelled. Now coming back through another state but finally is en route on his last leg.

Had breakfast, did my puzzles, spent some time reading the board ; )

Took a long walk, ran into a neighbor and chatted for a bit.

Walked to the market to get everything I need for the weekend and Easter.

Have a catch up call planned with my daughter.

H should be home around 2:30 ish and I’m super excited to hear about his trip. He started a new job Monday and this was his first business trip to meet that team in person.

I’m making a nice seafood dinner for us for Good Friday - oysters, skate, couscous, and. broccollini. Looking forward to a long chat in the dining room.

I love the boring days! Checked the calendar and my next commitment is the hair salon on the 28th. No kids nearby, no grandkids, no parents, no pets although I’m considering making friends with a few of the crows that hang around in hopes that I can convince them to be a bit quieter. I still have a lot of photos to review and edit so likely that will compose much of my day. Also trying to keep my ankles from more swelling.

My big project today is to turn the seder chicken deglazed drippings into gravy for the leftovers.

Otherwise thinking a lot about my mom, who would have been 100 today. She left us at age 89. Her wedding day, and getting her doctorate (in Statistics) when I was 10 years old. Her grave’s foot scroll is inscribed “Scholar, Trailblazer, Voyager” and indeed she was all that.

H and D are both not feeling 100% & want a quiet morning, so that’s likely the plan for today. Maybe BIL has short day & we may get together with niece (his D) and her family. We will see. Niece & grand niece are on spring break and nephew in law has work from home flexible schedule.

Marilyn I am very impressed that your mom got a PhD in Statistics! Definitely a scholar, trailblazer and voyager. Also, quite beautiful!

Things I did today.

Drank my cappuccino, I’m really enjoying my cup of fancy coffee and my Nespresso machine

Got a money order at Walmart to pay back the money from my mom’s pension that was overpaid. Decided to grocery shop since I was there

Called my mom’s bank to see what I needed to do. I reported her death a month ago, talked to another person and found out that I need to send them a death certificate.

Did my correspondence and mailed the money order and death certificate.

Went out for Chinese.

Walked the neighborhood. Texted my sibling to see if she did the task she needed to do. I got a call yesterday saying that she needed to drop a lawsuit or they will sue us since they paid us already. Sibling told me that she was too busy to do said task and that she will do it next week. She was on the golf course.

Called my daughter and had a panic attack since I don’t want to be sued. She talked me off the ledge. I hate that she is an in between but I can not literally deal with someone who won’t even do the most basic things on any timeline other than theirs.

Talked to mil who is having some trouble remembering how she gifted us money last year. My bil wondered where his check was. FYI, it was deposited into his brokerage account.

Having pot roast for dinner.

It wasn’t a busy day but was a bit stressful. I feel like my husband and I are the adults in the room with a bunch of toddler siblings.

As I read everyone’s mentioning how dull and boring their days are, I’m struck by how privileged we are to have such days. We don’t live in a war zone, we’re not suffering from famine, we’re all generally financially comfortable, and we all have families we love and who, for the most part, love us. It’s a good life, ya’ know? Dull and boring is a wonderful life to live.

This was already addressed earlier in this thread

We all know how very privileged we are

I woke up early for me again, which is becoming my new normal, I guess.

I cooked dinner at 10 a.m. – chicken and oven-roasted veggies. Did my puzzles and eventually worked out. Took a shower and watched a soap until dh got home and we could go to lunch. Lunch was yummy, and we went over the things the stager suggested. We were both happy with her writeup; we feel slightly less overwhelmed.

My OOS bff called, but I couldn’t talk so called her back in the car while dh did some shopping. She had her pre-op meeting yesterday and is nervous. Oh, and she’s trying to get us Olympic tix!

Now, home and waiting for basketball. I am so confident in my team but still nervous. If we don’t win, my entry tomorrow will be that I stayed in bed all day, depressed.

Another routine day around here. Last week while walking the girls I managed to pick up a hitchhiker - a tick. Fortunately I noticed it right away and H was able to remove it. Now a week has passed and I have an intense, itchy lump on the back of my leg where the tick was. Hopefully it will resolve! Today I ran a few errands (Walmart, Target) and then we did some work in the yard, killing dandelions and spreading weed and feed on the lawn. I continued my Redfin/Zillow activities while H washed the vehicles. Tonight we’ll watch The Pitt while enjoying some cheese pizza. I’m ready for Lent to be over.

I always have major reactions to tick bites. It doesn’t mean anything in and of itself. If you got it within 24-hours it’s unlikely to cause Lyme (though you can take a dose of doxycycline if you’re concerned) but under 24-hours and no bulls-eye rash I wouldn’t worry. Other tickborne illnesses can happen faster than 24-hours but you’ll know if you come down with one of them! The reaction is annoying and at least for me can take weeks to fully resolve, but not dangerous in and of itself.

Well, I was struck by it. I know I have a good life.

My life is typically routine and not particularly exciting. Today, however, we went to the zoo with D & GD. It was a fabulous day in this part of the Midwest - partly cloudy and low 70’s (yesterday was in the 40’s, btw). It’s spring break week in this area, so we had quite the hike from our spot at the far end of the parking lot - but it was worth the walk. We had a great time! We were whooped by the time we got home. I managed to put something together for dinner & now I’m contentedly sitting & watching Wheel of Fortune.

We have had a low key day—grand niece wanted to come over, have lunch, and play lego with our D, specifically singling her out of a photo we had taken at Bennihana the other night. They came for several hours and then had to leave for swim lessons for the 5 year old charmer.

Later tonight we will make dinner or maybe go out to eat with BIL. It’s a nice, quiet low key day.

It was not the best day. Sorry.

I’m not threatened to be sued every day when I have no control over what someone else needs to do to remedy it.

Great 5 mile hike at Torrey Pines today. Nice breeze off the water kept it comfortable.

Today’s plan included a trip to the “fiber festival” being held at our local living history museum. They’ve been advertising it for months. We drove the 30 odd miles only to find most of the parking unavailable due to construction and lots of vehicles circling the limited and packed parking area. No one was directing or assisting with parking and given there were scheduled events that everyone wanted to attend, we cut our losses and headed home. On the way back, we stopped at the book fair and our local “Buccees” for the first time. That was quite the experience. I’m not sure we’ll be repeating that in the near future! Evidently it is quite popular and a destination for many. We tried their brisket sandwiches, apple pies and glazed pecans. The pecans were the best part.
That’s about all I’ve got. Exciting stuff, I know. I had hoped to share photos from the fiber festival to prove I do have a life other than CC, but - best laid plans and all of that.

I dropped off my cans and bottles at our local HS. They collect them and redeem them. Donating them is a nice thing to do; they use the $$$ for their renowned marching band.

Went to the gym. DH and I tried to put up our patio umbrella. Tomorrow, hopefully, we’ll assemble our new deck couch.

I’m making chicken frittatas for dinner.

I’m sitting in a tram waiting to get closer to our car at the NC Zoo. I love this zoo. Earlier this morning I did the stairmonster for an hour and abs and mobility. Sorry for all the pictures. I have a zillion more though lol
