What are you doing today?

I went to the tax service. I could have done them but I’m glad I went as I did a 401k conversion to an IRA then converted some to a Roth IRA. I was guessing on the amount I could transfer without having a big tax hit and I came very close. I owed the feds $179 and the state will send me $19, plus I now have money in the Roth growing tax free.

Back to another Seder tonight. More cake! Last night was brisket so I think tonight will be chicken.

Well, I bought a nice Quince cashmere cardigan online for my CA doctor and had it mailed to her home. (She was kind enough to let us talk about H—who is not his patient for the 1st half of my visit yesterday.) My doc is thrilled with the sweater and that it’s in its way.

I also let H’s new oncologist/hematologist NP know that the former MD onc/hem said they faxed the medical records to the number on the NP’s card. The NP said he’ll have people looking out for the records.
We went to a restaurant we hadn’t been to before for Hong Kong style food—duck, egg & rice for H & D and pork with egg and udon for me. We all had beverages as well. Then we bought vegetables from new Japanese market to cook with marinated meat for dinner tonight—mushrooms and gailan (chinese broccoli).

We also went to costco for fruit, brie & OTC meds. Will pick up BIL from mechanic—he was in an accident this morning. :frowning: Fortunately no injuries

Then we will make dinner and hopefully have a quiet evening.

When you get your furniture put together, I have a wood bench in a box in my dining room you can tackle.

We will do it, but I truly HATE putting things together. I don’t recall my parents having to buy stuff and then put it together. Or did I just block that out of my mind? Or did I hide in my room cause putting together something was surely going to involve some arguing and cussing! :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

Cleaned bathrooms and kitchen today. Went to my strength/weightlifting class today, came home showered and threw a load of laundry in. Just got home from my weekly Mahjong group ( I won one game).
Not exciting, but felt like I got a lot done!

Haha, my husband’s favorite part is the putting together!

When he was a kid, his family would go over to his cousins at Christmas. My husband would assemble all the toys.

Funny—H, the kids & I are pretty happy to assemble more things & save the assembly fees. In the 70s, my brothers got jobs at Penny’s assembling bikes.

Back in our parents’ day, people only bought local, and the local retailer delivered the finished product. No one ordered something that was manufactured in China and then shipped here, in pieces and in a big box.

Well, I’m willing to share my address…

I guess that makes him a keeper for you!!

@deb922 -just a wild guess but is your H an engineer?

I was just wondering the same thing! I have an engineer H & most of our friends are engineers. They are quite handy to have around!

Did our taxes. Surprisingly, TT was much more user friendly than the last year’s one. Imported everything without a glitch. We owe the Feds but only half as much as I thought we would so yay! I think I need a glass of wine :wine_glass: now.

My usual boring day. A friend was at the Y, so we were able to chat for a bit while she was on the TM. I found some tips on adjusting my running form when on the TM, and I’m happy with how I’ve improved. In my big running days I was always outside, so I’ve had some adjustments to make.

Shower, lunch, late nap.

I did the taxes a week ago - our laptop went kaput, so I had to reload all of the turbo tax stuff onto the new one. Surprised to see the refund in the account this morning; I think 7 days is a record. I adjusted my withholding from my pension last year as the refund was too big, and the only thing that saved us from paying this year was the withhold on the 401k withdrawals. Time to update again and this year I’ll actually check the result. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I think I might not post on this thread anymore as I have officially achieved what many strive for but few admit, a life so blissfully uneventful it resembles asystole (a term I learned from bingeing 15 seasons of ER recently).

My days unfold with all the drama of a my many well-folded fitted sheets. I have no pets requiring walks or attention to excrement, no exercise routine requiring, well, exercise and, most importantly, no schedule demanding I be anywhere at any particular time. My calendar boasts only the essentials: light meal planning, the regular bout of laundry and cleaning (Tuesdays and Thursdays for those tracking the excitement), and my standing Wednesday engagement with my stitching group, arguably the most action-packed part of my week besides my Friday (very dry, gin) martini. I make a concerted effort not to leave the house, largely to preserve this delicate ecosystem of calm. Thus, my contributions here have been minimal unless DH decides to destabilize things with something reckless, like a spontaneous dinner or (horrors) a pop-up gathering. Fortunately, he has shown admirable restraint lately, and my equilibrium continues to flatline.

Current pressing obligations include hosting Easter dinner for a party of three (menu planned, nerves steady) and the slow, deliberate acquisition of attire for my upcoming class reunion this September. In short, absolutely nothing happens in my daily life, and I couldn’t be more pleased about it, but it does limit what I can share here.

I will return if someone buys me a winning lottery ticket or something equally unlikely actually happens, though I will continue to “like” all of the excitement in everyone else’s life.

Don’t leave! I need to hear about others’ boring days, because mine are so boring as well. If I didn’t exercise every day, I’m not sure what I would say. It’s literally the only structure I have in my day, other than my soap operas, but even those I can watch online if I miss them, like I did today. Boring is underrated, IMO.

Spring is in full gear, so spent this afternoon watering, propagating and rearranging plants. Unfortunately the lovely 83 degree weather on Wednesday deteriorated to 55 and rainy today, so plant chores were indoors. Ah, April. Went to synagogue services this AM for Passover. Picked up some pristine plant pots beforehand – 11 pots, $10. Colors match the guest room. Had ordered a small ring and it arrived unexpectedly today. It’s dainty and stacks well with my silver bands.

Tomorrow we head to BIL’s for a seder. We always go there for the weekend during Passover. Haven’t packed yet. Need to take the computer for the sale stuff. We have a potential last-minute second bid and this could get wild.

Dear @ChoatieMom ,

Please keep posting here. I think I speak for many when I say that your sense of humor and wit can make anything ( nothing?) entertaining to read.

@ChoatieMom I love your contributions. I may still work but my life is very boring!

I couldn’t sleep for some reason last night even tho I had a long day yesterday and was exhausted. Fortunately my trip to National airport in the morning yesterday was uneventful. No traffic but a little congestion in the way there going thru DC. But I was up much earlier than usual and then had a long busy day at work.

That being said, I want to be my kids! When someone asked me yesterday if all my kids would be home for Easter, I had to chuckle.

Oldest is spending two weeks in Kauai where her husband, who is in the military, is doing training. But they put him up in a resort hotel so she decided to join him. As I think I mentioned before, Dh is in San Diego dog sitting for them.

I woke up to texts this morning from S25 saying he and GF made it to Florence, including their bags. They had packed small carry-on only as they had two connections, but American forced them to check bags at the gate on their initial flight to Boston due to being one of the last boarding groups.

Then right after his text, D21, studying in Rome, texted me to say she arrived in Tunisia where she is on a school trip for the weekend (then will meet S25 in Rome early next week).

Me? No place exciting to be. I’m off to work. Late day for me as I work til 7pm. Same old thing, different day. I did change the linens on S23’s bed this morning as he is coming home for the weekend. No exciting trip for him like his siblings LOL.

Now THAT’S what I call exciting. I would write that on a list, check it off, and then spend a half hour admiring the checked-off item.

I don’t post here often because I can literally copy and paste my posts as my daily activity can be condensed into this:

  1. Wake up, dress, etc. and
  2. feed the cats, make coffee, feed Mr (if he is home)
  3. Insulin (yes, that is a verb in our house!) the two diabetic cats
  4. Clean their litterboxes
  5. Go to the office or downstairs to my home office and work taking short breaks here and there
  6. Feed the cats and again insulin the two diabetic ones
  7. Make something for dinner
  8. Exercise and then eat dinner
  9. Watch a little TV, video chat with Mr. if he is traveling

As you can see, doing taxes can be a very exciting event in this kind of schedule!

I call #4 “Excrement Management”

We had a fun thread a while back describing our days using emojis where I lamented the lack of a flatline emoji.
