What are you doing today?

Well, today was not the usual, but not in a good way.

Dh woke me up saying he thinks he needs to go to the doctor as he’s having heart palpitations that aren’t going away. He had them all day yesterday and never said a word. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: His doctor was out of office so a partner squeezed him in. They did an EKG and all is about as fine as can be expected, but he is being referred to a cardiologist.

So now my day is completely off. Ate a protein bar in the car and haven’t worked out and just feel discombobulated.

In good news, ds2 called while dh was getting his blood drawn, and he had more good news about a business deal. And we talked about other stuff, too. He’s a good kid.

Oh, and ds2’s pup is getting ACL surgery today. They haven’t heard back from the vet.

Too much going on! Bring back my boring, predictable days!

ETA: Because I’m not working out I got other stuff accomplished, such as placing my specialty med refill. I have no idea why sometimes it’s so easy and sometimes it’s so difficult. Today, it was easy!

Mondays are my day off so this morning I did mundane chores around the house.

After lunch, I had my six month skin check at the derm (had stage 0 melanoma removed almost five years ago) and all looks good. Hurray!

I went to schedule my next appt and was told that Mondays my doc will be in their new 2nd location (didnt even realize they were opening another office!). The new office happens to be where I live! Yay!

Coincidentally, it’s the vacated offices of my old derm who found my melanoma. I had broken up with my old derm office a few years ago when it was bought out by private equity . One of the younger docs there, who dh went to, had left a year earlier and opened her own practice with another young doc. I started going to them and love them but their office is 30 mins away. Happy I won’t need to make that drive anymore.

Dh, who is out of town for another week, texted and asked me to buy plants for his veggie garden so I stopped on my way home. I was only able to get half of what he wanted but it’s still too cold for planting and things are still arriving at the nurseries.

Now deciding if I want to make a girl dinner for myself or do something more labor intensive LOL.

Had my annual physical this morning. I am healthy!! Also got my every-six-month Prolia injection.

My cleaning ladies were here this AM so DH and I took ourselves out for lunch. Then I took a brief nap, went to the gym, and here I am.

Dull as dishwater.

I’m whiny today - I have increased the amount of weight I lift, and I’m sore!

Played bridge, went to the gym for an hour, and tried to avoid buying half price Easter candy at the store, but I failed miserably at that last one

I love Mondays. I do my volunteer gig until 12:30. Then head to an afternoon of mahjong. I stopped at our local farm on my way home, and picked up a dozen farm fresh eggs they gave for free for enrolling in their CSA. Then, lucky me, my name was chosen for a fresh baked sour dough bread which I picked up.

Had turkey/matzoh ball soup for dinner.

Getting ready to watch the men’s college championship basketball game.

DH is trying to get windows 11 on his computer so we can do our taxes. It’s proving to be…a challenge @BunsenBurner I tried to tell him it would be!

We drove to the cardiologist’s office (30 minutes). Checked in. Wait. After an hour, asked when I’d be seen. Whoops—they forgot to tell me I need to drive another 20 minutes to a different office! When they were planning to tell me?!?!? Navigated so we got to 2nd office and saw the cardiologist who was very kind and apologetic. Everything is fine and he will see or confer via phone as needed.

Went back to BIL’s neighborhood, stopping along the way to get some takeout lunch and some more green veggies for dinner (they have pea sprouts in season that I hardly ever find in HI). Made them last night and happy to make them again—just sauté with some garlic & serve with protein and some carbs.

Tomorrow, we are going to mall to buy some lego at Lego store for grand niece (D wants to gift her Wednesday).

It took me several updates of Win10 before they let me install Win11! So keep trying. :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

Honestly I don’t know where he is at…but he has only a few days…we need to get our taxes done.

I’ve been resisting updating to Windows 11 on my laptop also…

I woke up early to get to the optometrist for glaucoma testing. I had called them a couple of weeks ago to ask them whether this was still necessary as i had just seen them and was going to have cataract surgery soon. They said yes. I got a reminder text at 8 a.m. At 8:10 they called to see whether I had had my surgery yet. No. OK, then go ahead and come in. Two minutes later, they called back. So, HAVE I had the cataract surgery? No. The woman starts to laugh and apologize and said that she had gotten confused and the doctor says, no, I don’t need to come in. OK. Well, glad I got up for this appt I was pretty sure I didn’t need. That’s OK. Found time!

So I started gathering things for a garage sale Saturday. I just feel like I want to get rid of everything! Swedish death cleaning in overdrive.

I hopped on the treadmill for a bit just because I had so much energy. Going to work out with the online group for a bit because I am meeting three friends for lunch. This is the group where lunch often turns into dinner. We try to get together three or four times a year. Two of them have birthdays tomorrow. Can’t wait to see them. We never run out of things to talk about. We are the same but different. One has six kids and two grandchildren. Another lost her dh early to cancer. One is still working close to FT. And then there’s me. I am thankful to have this lunch to take my mind off world events.

Taking a slightly late lunch, so I can pick up H from work at 1pm, so he can pick up his car from an oil change. Need to be back for a 2pm meeting about office supplies. I also already have done the usual workout this morning. This afternoon, H will have leftover turkey for dinner. Me - leftover lasagna. I hate leftovers, but oh well.

I’m also spending my days on the floor seeing if new mushrooms are growing on my carpet. Good so far - please continue to stay gone! Our house temp is also falling. It was 65* this morning - which is fine and great, but it will be in the 30s overnight the next few nights with highs only in the low to mid 60s. This is great for me living, but we can’t use our heat until the radiator is fixed. Part is ordered and the estimate was “sometime this week.” Pipes won’t freeze, but it may get a bit nippy if it’s not here by the weekend. But I slept far better last night than I have in a few weeks!

oh yes! I also started working on the kids’ wedding newsletter thingy that goes in their welcome bag. A fun little newspaper like insert that has important, or semi-important details, fun facts about the couple and the wedding, a word search, crossword puzzle, etc… First time using canva. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it. I think I’d like it better on a desktop. I had to drag out my mouse for my laptop because I was going nuts. I typically only use my home computer for taxes…

Thankful for that big Michigan win last night because it means today I’m not dealing with DH’s annual Wolverine grief (until football season).

Today is administrative stuff.

My accountant finished my state and federal tax returns so I needed to review & sign those plus schedule payments and estimated tax payments for the next year. That required setting up payment accounts with the IRS and state. So lots of time get those done.

My pension manager for some unknown reason is stil deducting CA state income taxes from my pension more than year after I moved and more than a year after I notified them of a permanent change of address. So time on phone trying to get through to HR to fix that. That required lots of time on hold. Then it required document downloading, form filling, signing, then scanning & uploading. (I really wish I had printer at the house. Hate running to Staples every time I need a hard copy to sign.)

Any my lawyer sent me the updated copies of my trust, will and end of life/healthcare directives yesterday evening-- so I need to read all of those, and then schedule a date to go in person to sign the official, legal documents so they can witnessed and recorded.

Now I just got text from SIL saying one kid urgently needs a birthday card for teacher tomorrow so I guess I’m heading off the drug store for that…

I also had to catch cats (plural!) to administer their monthly tick & flea treatments. That’s always fun. They hide so well.

And I did a couple of loads of laundry as well.

So nothing fun today, just a lot of adulting.

Sigh.

I told H that I wasn’t going to pull weeds until I was sure the world wasn’t going to end today.

Anyway. Weeds were pulled as was a crap ton of mint. A couple of years ago I warned him that mint could only be planted in a plant pot with nothing around it. My warning went unheeded, hence the raised bed and the cold frame filled with the stuff.
Then onto the blackberry vines. How they root at both ends :woman_shrugging:t2:

Now I’m sitting on the deck with a glass of Echolands rosé, watching the flames on the gas fire.

Today there is nothing on my calendar. My kind of day.

So: Gym, Home Depot for soil to top up my planters, and maybe I can cajole DH to put together the damn couch for the deck.

I woke up ridiculously early and could not get back to sleep, so I just got up, had coffee, read my papers on line, did the puzzles, checked my bank account and credit charges- my usual morning ritual. Also threw in a load of laundry which has now been folded and put away.

Plan: yoga, then a trip to the Xfinity/ Comcast store. I’m hoping I can actually talk with a human being at the latter.

Looks like nice weather this afternoon, so hoping to get in a walk around the lake. My friends from my strength training class and I are planning a happy hour later this afternoon. That should be fun and I might need it after the Xfinity business.

A slightly different day. Same workout stuff. But I’m home for the morning, as we are getting new shutter/blinds installed in our sunroom. Supposed to take 2 hours, but I have to have an early lunch (11:30-12:30) today to make it to another consultant interview. Thus, I’ll likely stay home until then. After that, only one hour of work left. Then dinner - not sure what - and Walmart Wednesday.

House is 61* and dropping. High today is 59. We will manage. Friday is supposed to be 75.
