What are you doing today?

You were productive! And good on your H for getting those good deals.

I played “stump the TurboTax tax experts” but after more than 5 hours, a chat, and 3 separate phone calls lasting over 2 hours, got it finished and filed. The tax expert with 39 years of experience had to consult with another tax expert who’s a former IRS employee to figure it out.

Good news is we’re getting refunds from both Federal and State. We moved to a different state in 2025 when H changed jobs so had some new things going on.

I had hoped to get some other things done today, but glad to check this off my list.

I’m going to a Steering Committee meeting of a group I belong to, going to the gym, trying to convince DH we can easily put together the storage box for our new outdoor cushions, and maybe doing some ironing. And then our simple little habit on a Sunday night: Watching America’s Funniest Home Videos. We are easy to amuse.

Are these episodes reruns or new(er) episodes. Our kids loved watching this when they were younger.

Both, @abasket. As far as we’re concerned, it doesn’t matter; we don’t remember the old ones anyway!!

end of visit w S/DiL , then talked to my mom to see how she’s holding up (fell last week) and then DH and I started relocating two 4x8 garden beds. frames are done but dirt needs to be moved by yours truly this week. all because the neighbor’s (beautiful) river birch started growing up thru the beds so much that nothing would grow. The birch root system is basically a gigantic water-seeking sponge that heads for wherever someone is dutifully watering the zucchini…

Went to a holocaust memorial remembrance service this morning. Then with several of the attendees to a lunch afterwards. Service at the restaurant was very slow. Then went to Costco to buy a pack of stamps, saving myself a trip to the post office, even though I am spending more on the stamps, as I am spending the afternoon writing out postcards to get the vote out. We put the stamps on the postcards and drop them off to be addressed.

Woke up uncharacteristically early and couldn’t fall back asleep for hours, although I must’ve at some point because dh had to wake me up to tell me breakfast was ready. He makes almond-flour blueberry pancakes every Sunday. Yummy.

I wanted to go spend the money we made at the garage sale on a new large planter for my foxtail fern that has completely outgrown its huge current planter, but the rain had started and it’s currently pouring so I’ll just wait until tomorrow.

In the meantime, I’m watching sports that aren’t rained out (looking for @Hoggirl at the Masters!). We got a lovely call from ds1 while he was driving home from an ultimate tournament. We talked sports and politics and his puppy post-surgery. And I’ve been able to hear ds2 on the radio all afternoon. He texted, “I love this team.” I love that he loves his team! :purple_heart:

Me, too - but I just keep seeing the guy in the tacky yellow “egg salad” trucker hat. That dude is getting roasted on social media.

Today we went to Home Depot for more yard bags, stopped for breakfast bagel sandwiches, finished the yard cleanup, went and looked at another property. Neither one of us liked it. Exciting stuff.

Baked some chicken breasts to have on hand as a protein source for the next few days ( going out of town on Thursday), then my usual Sunday morning yoga class. Stopped at the bagel place to buy a few everything bagels, when I got home I toasted one, topped it with butter and more “everything bagel” seasoning ( I know ). Took a walk in the neighborhood as it was in the 70’s and partly sunny! Started preliminary packing for my trip, read some of my library book then went back outside to clean up some sticks/ rake leaves from the area between my garage and my neighbors garage. Have never been sure whose property it is, but it’s just a space about 4 ft wide and maybe 10-12 feet long. There is nothing there but leaves seem to congregate. Four lawn bags later, I came back in and ate Friday’s leftovers for dinner.

Yesterday, got errands run—went to a meeting, picked up lunch on the way home. After eating lunch with H, back out for more errands—picked up books on hold at public library, picked up an Rx and got enough coupons that I was able to buy a huge quantity of toilet paper for <$2 (we were running low). Then went to Costco to stock up on produce, eggs and a rotisserie chicken.

Today, we went to 3 cemeteries with most of my sibs and their kids and grandkids—where both sets of my grandparents and my parents & brother are buried. We said a prayer, sang a song, reminisced a little and had a lovely brunch at the country club. It was nice to gather. I brought oranges to the cemetery because we always did growing up and each kid would get one. My sibs were pleased I brought and distributed them.

My day has gotten off to a rough start. Ds2 called early to let me know the mom of one of his bffs from college died last night. The family had kept her relatively sudden illness quiet for the past five-six weeks, but what has me shook is that her issues sound quite similar to what my bff is having surgery for Thursday. Ds2 is in this kid’s wedding this fall. So sad that his mom, who was a pistol, won’t be there. In good news, ds had a good work weekend and hopes the funeral isn’t this coming weekend because he has to work OOS then, too.

I hope to go pick up a planter this afternoon. I started the new four-episode Malcolm in the Middle. Can’t say I love it, but I think it’s worth a two-hour investment of my time. I have s soft spot for that show as a former co-worker said that I was like the mom! lolololol She is certifiable in the remake so I hope that I would no longer remind him of her.

Waiting for my boss to finish typing up emails, so we can have a pre-meeting before a meeting later today at 4pm. Otherwise not a super exciting day. Got up before the crack of dawn to go to the gym with H. I’m still not running - just doing stairmonster/bike/lift (mostly upper body) until May 1st. I’ve determined that I have turf toe, lol. Or not really lol - and not exactly, since that typically affects the big toe, and mine’s the second toe. Technically it’s just a sprained toe - likely grade 2. Although while I knew one exercise was probably hurting it and stopped that, I figured out the hard way that another stretch/strengthening exercise hurts it - and I took a giant step backwards last week… also strained my big toe (though that’s likely a grade 1). so… now I’m super paranoid about my stress test May 1st. I called and they only have treadmills, so I have to be able to walk well enough by then. My nerves absolutely can’t take postponing it. Grumble.

In slightly nicer news. H took this picture yesterday on his walk. Beautiful! I do love how spring looks, though my my body hates it. (A whole different set of whines I will spare y’all from at least for today)

Coffee, puzzles, and off to the Y. An hour on the treadmill and then weights. I’m thinking about suggesting to the staff that they put a couple of chairs in the weight machine area so people can sit and scroll through their phones instead of sitting on the machine for 15 minutes doing so.

Anyway, it’s the last home game of the hockey season, so I decided to pull the trigger on a single club seat ticket for tonight’s game. H is still across the Sound, and the girls have to work tomorrow, and I shut my eyes and hit pay.
The club area will have free food and drink before the game (last year’s final game it was wine and charcuterie), which helps justify the price.
Who am I kidding? :roll_eyes::rofl::rofl:

Now heading to Costco to order contacts and buy gas.

Well, today was a bunch of somewhat annoying online chats trying to iron out a problem with Quince where I was charged for 2 sweaters but only 1 was ordered & received. After about an HOUR, they agreed to refund me and sent an email to that effect.

Then I got to wrangle with insurer & CVS specialty pharmacy—we’ve been discussing the same issue for over a month in several conference calls but they persist in saying I owe them lots of money when they’d be fully paid if only they bill Medicare B & then insurer. For some reason, they keep doing it wrong!

Then off to H’s hand surgeon. Then one more call from CVS telling me to pay. Then home for conference calls, lunch and then off to another of H’s docs but when we got there we were informed they canceled the appt because he didn’t get blood test despite multiple messages they left on H’s phone.

Took H home to hydrate & get himself to blood testing site & went to bank to reverse a charge and change my checking account so I won’t be charged for “low balance” (<$35k).

Then just heated leftovers for dinner. Tiring day but mostly pretty good. Have to call pulmonary lab AGAIN to get H’s test results posted on his electronic health records. They promised to do so, test was 2 weeks ago but haven’t done it.

Excited because today I am baking! I love to bake but never do anymore for just dh and I, but I am taking a Texas chocolate sheet cake to my new mahjong group tomorrow! I have wanted to learn mahjong since seeing it in Crazy Rich Asians and finally found someone who knows the game and can teach me.

Remember the lunch group I attend monthly that I said the vibes were kind of off? Well, this is an offshoot of that so I am so glad that I hung with it!

Today, dh and I are going to lunch to talk finances. I meet Monday with my FA (dh is working) so we want to get our questions straight. Then, we need to figure out what to do about our plant and the new planter. The root ball is way too big.

Traveling today. Back to my former home area for a family member’s burial in Arlington. Going a few days early to catch up with some friends there, but keeping the trip very “ under the radar “ as I only have time to see a limited number of people before meeting up with family members.
Here’s my travel outfit. I’ll stash the jacket in my bag on arrival. It’s hot there today.
